With five new starters, Noon wants his young team to focus on improving through- out the season and be playing their best basketball in time for the playoffs. — a aM, LGA atts \ “The kids know they have some big shoes to fill and they are trying hard.” Joe Noon Dallas coach “We have a lot talent and speed, but we lack experi- ence,” said Noon. “We need to find the right mix and concen- trate on getting better with each game.” Senior captains Cory Patton and Megan Savage are the only two Mountaineers return- ing with any varsity experi- ence. Patton will start at guard while Savage is a forward. Cassie Snider is expected to fill another guard spot and freshmen Erin Delaney and Lyndsay Ellis will likely share time at point guard. Lindsey McCabe and Stephanie Konecke, both sophomores, will both see minutes at forward. “The kids have great atti- tude,” said Noon. “They want to learn and improve and try to live up to the high expecta- tions that have been set at Dallas. They are excited about the opportunity to play.” Noon hopes to build on the tradition Dallas has developed over the years, including a jun- ior high district championship a year ago. “We have eight freshmen on the roster who were part of a very successful junior high team last year,” said Noon. “Our young kids need to make the transition to the high school level. The kids know they have some big shoes to fill and they are trying hard.” ‘Identiflyer’ available for bird watchers To assist beginning bird watchers, the Pennsylvania Game Commission has added a bird song audio “identiflyer” to its list of merchandise avail- able through “The Outdoor Shop” on its website (www.pgc.state.pa.us).
