She was born in Centermareland on July 25, 1908, daughter of the late C. O. and Dorothy (Berlew) Brown. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a waitress at several restaurants in Wyoming County. She was a Gold Star Mother, member of the Dennis Strong American Legion Post and the Wyoming County Sr. Citizens. She was of Episcopal Faith. She was precededin death by her husband, Danie H. Hontz; a son, James who died in 1947, while serving with!the United e: Marine Corps.; brothers, ¥nk, Arthur, and Clarence Brown; sisters, May Brunges, Madge Dymond, and Gladys Brown. She vas a graduate of the Dallas Township High School. Shewas a member of the East Dallas United Methodist Church. PHYLLIS DEREMER Lived in Beaumont and Tunkhannock Phyllis DeRemer, 70, of Tunkhannock died December 3, 2004 at the Hospice Community Care inpatient unit of the Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. Born in Wilkes-Barre she was the daughter of the late Guy and Sarah (Hague) May. She graduated from Beaumont High School. She resided in Beaumont until 1953 and then relocated to Tunkhannock. Mrs. DeRemer was employed by Natona Mills and then the Roslund Elementary Cafeteria, Tunkhannock School District. She attended the Evans Falls Methodist Church. She is survived by her hus- band of 51 years, James L.; son, James G., Dallas; daughter, Kathy Bedford, Tunkhannock; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. MONICA HANKEY Daughter lives in Shavertown Monica Hankey of Pioneer Avenue, Shavertown, died December 4, 2004 in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, Plains Twp. She was born in Edwardsville, daughter of the late Martin and Antonia (Skedra) Zalonis, and was for- merly employed by General Cigar, Kingston. Mrs. Hankey was a member of St. Mary’s Annunciation Church, Kingston. Her husband, Herbert Hankey, preceded her in death. Surviving are daughter, Judith DeMaio, Shavertown; four grandchildren; 11 great- grandchildren; - sisters, : Stella Cook, Edwardsville; Florence Kornacki, Taylor, Mich.; and Ruth Siley, Edwardsville. King of Mehoopany died December 5, 2004 at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan W. King Jr. and Lisa Phillips of Scranton. He was born in Broadcove, Newfoundland, on Oct. 31, 1920, a son of the late Michael and Sara Parsons King. He was a graduate of Broadcove High School, received his bachelor and master degrees from Mount Allison University in Nova Scotia, and his Doctor of Theology degree from Boston University. For 51 years, he served as pastor of Methodist churches in New England and Washington state. Upon set- tling in this area he served as pastor for the Myrtle Street United Methodist Church in Scranton and as Chaplain for the Community Medical Center. After his retirement, he served as pastor for the East Lemon and Lemon United Methodists churches in Wyoming County where he was named Pastor Emeritus. He also served as Chaplain for Tyler Memorial Hospital in Tunkhannock. He was a mem- ber of the Union Lodge #291 Irem Shrine. He was preceded in death by a wife, Ena D. Tucker King, and daughter, Ena D. King. In addition to his son, he is survived by a brother, James Boyd King of London, Ontario; sister Phyllis Matthews of St. John, Newfoundland; three grandchildren. Main St. Wilkes-Barre PA 18711 WILLIAM EGLISKIS Navy veteran, he owned Tunkhannock Lumber William H. Egliskis of Tunkhannock died on December 4, 2004 at Tyler Memorial Hospital in Tunkhannock. He was born in Thurston Hollow, Wyoming County, on May 18, 1926, son of the late Andrew and Margaret (Kristunas) Egliskis. He was a 1943 graduate of Tunkhannock High School, and a Navy Veteran of World War II. He was a self-employed carpenter and builder. Prior to his retirement, he was the owner of Tunkhannock Lumber Company. He was member of the Dennis Strong American Legion Post, and the Russell Hill United Methodist Church. He was one of the founders of the Tunkhannock Ambulance Association, for- mer member and past President of the Tunkhannock Kiwanis Club. He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul; sister, Constance Heffering. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Jane MacCreary Egliskis; daughters and sons- in-law, Willa E. and Scott Ross, of Factoryville; Wenda E. and Ed Wenger, of Chambersburg; brothers, Frank “Fritz” Ambrutis, of Tunkhannock; Donald Egliskis, of Dallas; sister, Jean Kovalaskas, of Auburn, NY; five grandchildren; five great- grandchildren. Olivet CARL EGAN Dies while hunting Carl Egan, 40, of Bear Hallow Road, Noxen, died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, of natural causes while hunting. Born Oct. 3, 1964, in Binghamton, N.Y., he was a son of Robert Egan and the late Irene M. Shock. He was a grad- uate of Hanover Township High School. Surviving, besides his father, are a daughter, Erin Egan, Wilkes-Barre; a sister, Carol Egan, Nanticoke; a twin broth- er, Michael; a brother, Robert, both of Hanover Township; numerous nieces and nephews. Interment, St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. JANE COLEMAN Graduate of Kingston Township High School Jane H. Coleman, 81, of West Pittston died December 7, 2004 in VNA Hospice at Moses Taylor, Scranton. She was born in West Pittston, March 14, 1923, daughter of the late Donald E. and Alice (Heal) Hutchison. The family later moved to Shavertown. She graduated from Kingston Township High School and attended Wyoming Seminary. Jane later left Seminary during World War II and worked in New Jersey where she was first employed by RCA and later by Eastern Aircraft Co., manufacturer of fighter planes for the U.S. Navy. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, West Pittston., Class 18 of the Church and the Women’s Society. She was also a member of the West Pittston Women’s Club. She enjoyed Modern Square Dancing. Jane and her husband John were members of the Abington Allemanders of Clarks Summit and the Circle Eighters of Wilkes Barre. Preceded in death by her brother, Donald Hutchison. She is survived by, husband of 61 years, John C. Coleman; son, Ronald Coleman, Bluffton, South Carolina; three grandchil- dren, Ted, Russ and Carolyne Coleman, Bluffton, South Carolina. Interment will be in West Pittston Cemetery.
