6 The Dallas Post COMMUNITY Sunday, November 14, 2004 Kunkle child featured on Disney LEAF COLLECTIONS THIS WEEK ® Dallas Borough catalog cover Tori Elizabeth Landon, age 5, of Kunkle, was chosen by the American Auto Association to be on the cover of their 2005 Disney catalog. Tori and two other young models partici- pated in a photo shoot in June 2004 at Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney World, Orlando, Fla. Each of the young girls was given the opportunity to have their makeup and hair done by spe- cialists as the morning stage was pre- pared. Tori was then asked to be pho- tographed with Snow White. She was delighted at the chance to be so close to such a wonderful Disney princess. She was able to talk with Snow White and even tell her silly jokes. After the photo shoot was over, the girls were told the catalog would be made available beginning in October 2004 and would continue to be available throughout 2005. She and the other girls were told that they would have to wait until the cat- alog was published to see who made the cover. This was Tori’s first experi- ence with modeling. She is a kinder- garten student at Dallas Elementary School. She plays t-ball and is a mem- ber of the Daisy Scouts. She is the daughter of Thomas Robert and Kerry Maureen Landon, Dallas. She is the granddaughter of Kathleen R. Abell, Levittown, and the late William J. Abell; Thomas G. Landon, Wilkes- Barre, and Ayleen J. Landon, Dallas. She is the great-granddaughter of Dorothy Venezia, Levittown; and Alice S. James, Pittston. She has a brother, Hunter, age 4. Center St., Shavertown. Rev. Mark DeSilva and his son, Mark pose in front of the library's current display. Philly sports memoribilia on display Mark DeSilva has on display this month part of his collection of sports memorabilia. Born in Philadelphia, he became, at the age of 5 or 6, an avid fan of the city’s teams: the Eagles (foot- ball), the Phillies (baseball), the Flyers (hockey) and the 76ers (basketball). Items in the display, many of which were given him by friends, include cards, photo- graphs, several helmets — including one signed by Donovan McNabb — and a baseball signed by Mike Schmidt. He also has a baseball which he caught at a game. He sent it to the player involved, Mickey Morandini, who auto- graphed it and returned it to Mark. His most prized card is the Mike Schmidt rookie card which his wife, Jonna, gave him on their wedding day. Jonna was born in Alaska, but lived mostly in Massachusetts. Mark said it took him a while to con- vert her to an Eagles fan. Mark and Jonna have four children. Mark enjoys greatly sharing his relaxing hobby with his son Mark. They're both hop- ing that this is the year when the Eagles will finally win the Super Bowl. It’s been a long time since their last win in 1960. Mark is pastor of the Fellowship Evangelical Free Church, Dallas. Some members of his congregation are Dallas Cowboys fans. Mark says, with a twinkle in his eye, that he prays for them regularly.
