GIRLS VOLLEYBALL Dallas 3, Wyoming Area O Sept. 22 The Moun- taineers’ marvelous duo of Eri- ca Kelleher and Caity Green proved too much for the War- riors. Kelleher and Green com- bined for 20 kills and nine blocks to lead Dallas to a 3-0 victory. The scores were 25-15, 30-28, 25-12. After Dallas (5-2) easily cap- tured the first game, the War- riors appeared to have Dallas on the ropes in the second, tak- ing a 20-15 lead. But when Kelleher got into the front row, she blasted four kills as Dallas cut the lead to 24-23. The Mountaineers surged ahead 25-24 on a kill by Vickie Piontkowski and went on to win the game 30-28. The Warriors never threat- ened in game three. The scores were 25-18, 18-25, 28-30, 25-16, 15-13. Erica Kelleher, middle hitter, had 17 kills, 17 digs, seven blocks and four aces for the Mounts. Caity Green gave a good performance with 13 kills, 12 blocks and nine digs for the Mountaineers. Jill Pio- ntkowski had 17 assists, eight digs and five service points. Dallas 3, Hanover 1 Sept. 16 — Dallas’ Erica Kelleher, a 5-foot-10 senior mid- dle hitter, put up sofne eye- catching numbers in leading Dallas to a 3-1 victory over Hanover Area. The scores were 22-25, 25-16, 25-19, 25-15. Kelleher had 13 kills, 10 aces, 17 service points, 12 digs and seven blocks. The Mountaineers also got a super effort from Caity Green. - The 5-10 junior had 15 kills, 11 blocks, six digs and five service points. Theresa Heintz had nine kills, nine service points and three aces. Vicki Piontkowski had 15 assists and seven service points, while her sister, Jill, had 10 assists and nine digs. Lake-Lehman 3, Berwick O Sept. 16 — Hannah Sorber had 16 service points, nine kills and 27 assists and as Lake- Lehman moved to 5-0 on the year, winning by scores of 25- 22, 25-20, 25-14. Jess Turak posted 21 service points and 14 kills for the Black Knights, Sheree Horvath added 14 service points, and Marissa Harrison tallied 13 service points and 15 kills. Tunkhannock 3, Meyers 1 Sept. 16 — Tunkhannock re- covered from a 24-26 loss in game one to sweep the next three from Meyers 25-15, 25-17, 25-23. GIRLS TENNIS Dallas 4, Wyoming Valley West 3 Sept. 21 — Michelle Luksh had a 6-3, 7-5 victory in the No. 4 spot in Dallas’ victory over Wyoming Valley West. Kristen Evans also had a good day, with a win at the No. 3 spot and a 6- 1, 6-0 doubles victory with Alia Pyros. Rachel Schaub and Paige Kyle also had a doubles victory for the Mountaineers. GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY Lake-Lehman 15, Nanticoke 47 Sept. 22 — Just 23 seconds separated Lake-Lehman’s top four finishers in a 1547 Wyoming Valley Cross Country League Division II girls victory over Greater Nanticoke Area on Wednesday. Kelcey Cole won in 20:59 as the Black Knights improved to 3-0 in WVCCL division compe- tition. Teammates Missy Josuweit (21:16), Sarah Austin (21:17) and Courtney Matus (21:22) followed in second through fourth place. Dallas 17, Bishop Hoban 49 Sept. 22 — Lisa Giacometti (21:19), Jessica Jones (21:21) and Hillary Adams (21:37) swept the first three places for Dallas, which improved to 2-0 in WVCCL Division II Bishop Hoban’s Carolige By- ron was fourth in 21:51. BOYS CROSS COUNTRY Lake-Lehman 17, Nanticoke 42 Sept. 22 — Ryan Bloom won his second meet of the season in 17:49 as Lake-Lehman easily improved to 2-1 in WVCCL Di- vision II action. Justin Mazer (18:02) and Andy Josuweit (18:26) finished second and third for the Black Knights. } Dallas 20, Bishop Hoban 39 Sept. 22 — Bishop Hoban’s Joe DeGraba won in 18:47, but Dallas secured the next six spots en route to the victory.
