In traditional and innovative ways, they address human needs through collabo- rative efforts in education, healthcare, housing, pastoral and social services. A celebration will be con- ducted at the Blessed Sacra- ment Chapel at Mercy Center to honor the sisters who will be celebrating their jubilee. “A jubilee is a time in which we renew the hope in the com- mitments we all have made. It is a time of good news for the poor and a year of favor from the Lord,” said Sister Catherine McGroarty, President of the Re- gional Community of Dallas. “It is a wonderful feeling to know that our service together totals 1,630 years of Mercy service.” Youth reading group learns about American history and culture The Donuts and Discussion group at the Back Mountain Memorial Library discussed “My Side of the Mountain,” by Jean Craighead George, in July. The book was chosen from the “We the People Bookshelf" awarded to the library by the National Endowment for the Humanities to only 1,000 libraries in the nation. The bookshelf, located in the children's room, contains 15 hard cover books with the theme of courage, geared to help young people learn more about American history and important ideas in American culture. The library wants to express its thanks to Curry Donuts, on Memorial Highway in Dallas, for providing two dozen doughnuts for each of the four meetings of the group this summer.
