2 The Post NEWS Sunday, September 12, 2004 | FOR THE POST/CHARLOTTE BARTIZEK Together again after all these years Churches —— (continued from page 1) which looked at the reality of the situation. “We have been talking about these two churches coming to- gether for at least the last five years,” she said. “There are so many Methodist churches in the Back Mountain which are reminiscent of the horse and buggy days when people could- n’t drive miles to get to church. Now we find ourselves with smaller numbers and a duplica- tion of services. We figured if we combined the two church- es, we would be more efficient, have less work and more time to enjoy each other. “Change is not easy, but our combined choirs are already proving to be tremendous.” For the near future, the com- bined congregations of more than 400 people will worship and have Sunday school classes at the Lehman church off of Rt. 118. Russell is very protective of her parishioners’ feelings and sensitive to the memories and the needs of both of her con- gregations. “Both of the buildings will be evaluated for their feasibility,” she said, “and we will go from there. Right now we are using the Lehman church because it is a larger facility. We will later make a decision to reside in one and the other one will eventually be sold.” “Change is not easy, but our combined choirs are already proving to be tremen- dous." - Jennie Ide \dstown UMC member The long-range vision is to find land on which to build a new place of worship, since both churches are land-locked = by adjacent properties and parking is at a premium. “We want to build not only | for ourselves, but to offer our “| facility to the community to ex- pand the space and activities, i especially for our youth,” Rus- | sell said. % \ we CROSSWORD A NSWERS PlE[TEMMAlI [D[ABMRIA[D[A[RElO[G[L]ED Puzzies appear f : : ; G : ERMP|A|OIL|O on page The 70th reunion of the Kingston Township High School Class of 1934 was held Sept. 8 at 2 5 3 : M|P : 2 olR 2 0 A ii TIR[1 Ms bag Mark Il restaurant in Dallas.
