Fifteen churches teamed up with the Commission on Economic Opportunity (CEO), the “People Helping People” organization, to help eco- nomically disadvantaged families with children and fixed- income senior citizens in need of assistance. Institute on Sacred Scripture marks 36 years The 36th annual Institute on Sacred Scripture was held recently on the College Mis- ericordia campus. Organized by Dr. Marie Noél Keller, RSM, Th.D., executive direc- tor of The Institute on Sacred Scripture, this year’s program featured three speakers, Dr. Kathleen O’Connor, Dr. Daniel J. Harrington and Dr. Bonnie Thurston. The Book of Job, the Gospel of Luke and Prayer in the New Testament were the topics discussed. The Institute on Sacred Scripture has provided clergy and lay people from across the nation the opportunity to study Scripture under the leadership of the top Biblical scholars in the country. It re- lates to those of all education- al backgrounds with the sim- plicity and elegance of the Scriptures themselves. This year, 126 participants attend- ed the Institute.
