For instance, she related gold. gin, j the movie “The Goonies” to i 4 how they will have to fight for Whitney Adams President, Class of 2004 —— what they believe in, no matter the cost, much as the charac- ters in the movie have to. Joseph Bednash, Salutatori- an, thanked the teachers for everything they had done for their class throughout their years. One of the most somber mo- ments’ of the evening came when Jason Senese spoke about Casey Zalenski, and how proud Casey would have been of the class. High school princi- pal Frank Galicki then present- ed Casey’s parents with the diploma Casey would have earned along with his class mates. William Zalenski, Casey’s father, thanked every- one for their support. The class song, Semisonic’s “Closing Time,” was the focal point of class Treasurer Jacque- line Hardwick’s closing speech. She used the line, “Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end,” to illus- trate moving from high school to something new. No Dallas graduation would be complete without a beach ball, smoke bombs and Silly String. All were in full view as the graduates threw theif caps in the air to celebrate their graduation. The scene after the ceremo- ny was the most poignaig of the night. The lot next to thi football field was filled wit proud parents hugging ® " son or daughter, friends po for pictures in their caps gnd gowns, and lots of hugs, os and laughter from everyone.| Congratulations and g luck to the Class of 2004! Daniel Tasselmyer can hardly fit all his hair into the graduation cap. Clockwise from left, Bill and Shirl- ty Zalenski, par- ents of Casey Zelinski, receive his diploma posthumously; Debbie Macri gives daughter Ashley Macri flow- ers, balloons, and a big kiss for grad- uation; Katelyn Buckman congrat- ulates Natasha Hennings after the ceremony ; John Bevilaqua takes time to thank retir- ing teache, John McCarthy for the lessons.
