He was a member of the Trucksville United Methodist Church and the Kingston Masonic Lodge W F&AM, the Irem Temple ' AAONMS, the Bloomsburg Consistory, Harveys Lake American Legion and Darby’s Rangers. He has been preceded in death by a stepbrother, Albert Law and by a stepsister, Ruth Law. JANET ALBERTSON Lived in Shavertown Janet R. Albertson, 84, for- merly of Harris Hill Road, Shavertown, died May 16, 2004 in the Laurels Health and Rehab in Kingston. Born in Dunmore, she was the daughter of the late John and Grace (Brundage) Buck- land. Mrs. Albertson graduated from Forty Fort High School in 1937 and West Chester College and attended Wilkes-Barre Business School. She was a member of Stella Presbyterian Church, Forty Fort. Preceding her in death was her husband, Melvin; daugh- ters, Joan and Donna Albert- son. RUTH EDWARDS “Operated beauty salon Ruth M. Edwards, 86, of Sag- inaw Street, Dallas, died May 17, 2004 at The Laurels Nurs- ing Center, Kingston. She was born Dec. 10, 1917, in Carbon- dale and was the daughter of the late Ralph and Lulu (Fen- wick) Carpenter. She was a 1936 graduate of Scully’s School of Beauty Cul- ture and operated a beauty sa- lon for many years. Mrs. Ed- wards was a resident of Dallas most of her life. She was pre- ceded in death by her husband, Harry L. Edwards; and sister, Betty J. Carpenter. Surviving are her daughter, Valerie Tirpak, Toms River, N.J.; son, James H. Edwards, Hanover Township; grandchil- dren, Melanie, David, Brian, Matthew Tirpak; and James D. Edwards. JIM O’DEA Air Force veteran JIM ODEA, formerly of Tunkhannock, died May 18, 2004, in Pittsburgh after a lengthy illness. He was born Oct. 7, 1941, in Wilkes-Barre. Jim was a 1959 graduate of Larksville High School and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Stella (Blannett) O’Dea, and brother, Richard. Surviving are his children, Kelly, Bend, Ore.; Terri, Fred- ericksburg, Va.; and Jim, Pitts- burgh; grandsons, Alexander and Colin, Pittsburgh; grand- daughter, Mallory, Fredericks- burg; niece, Erin, Mountain Top. This photo, probably taken not long into the 20th century, shows a denuded landscape and rutted dirt roadway. But the dam itself looks very much as it does today. PROPERTY TRANSFERS Kingston Twp. yard waste drop-off The Kingston Township Board of Supervisors reminds resi- dents that yard waste such as grass, leaves, twigs and small tree branches may be dropped off free of charge at the Township Pub- lic Works Facility grounds on East Center Street in Shavertown, or at the Dallas Area Municipal Authority located just off State Route 309 North, opposite Wasserott’s.
