Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Jane Day Malia Hazeltine. She attended Mey- ers and the Dallas schools. Be- fore retiring she was employed by Native Textiles, Dallas, and later at Mercy Center, Dallas. She was a member of Gate of Heaven Church, Dallas, and its Altar and Rosary Society. She had resided in Jackson Township since 1953 and for- merly Nanticoke. Born on November 2, 1913, in Nanticoke, she was a daugh- ter of the late Paul and Katharine (Kozinisko) Chubeck. She attended Holy Trinity School, Nanticoke. A housewife, Mrs. Hills main interest in life encom- passed her home and family. She was a member of First English Baptist Church, Nanti- coke, where she had been ac- tive in the choir and E.ET.O, and had been church treasurer for many years. Her husband, William Hill Sr., died in 1967. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Stella Estock and Florence Byrnes. OBITUARIES EUGENE NEARHOUSE Was Air Force Reservist Eugene R. Nearhouse II, 20, of Hillcrest Road, Shavertown, died February 21, 2004 at Com- munity Medical Center in Scranton. He was born July 22, 1983, in Kingston, the son of Eugene and Mary Ann (Stobodzian) Nearhouse. A graduate of Nan- ticoke Area High School class of 2001, he served in the Air Force Reserve 92 APS Division as a Senior Airman, Wyoming. Mr. Nearhouse II lived in Shavertown. Eugene was em- ployed by Restoration Enter- prise, Hanover Township. He is survived by, in addition to his parents, Jenna Marie (sister), of home; Eugene and Dolores Pendlebury Nearhouse (paternal grandparents), of Nanticoke. Born in Wilkes-Barre, Jan. 26, 1915, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary (Onisko) Kerechanin. She had attended Wilkes-Barre schools. Mrs. Wahlgren was a member of St. Therese’s Church, Shavertown, and was an active member of its Altar and Rosary Society. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gustav Wahlgren, in 1986; by brother, Michael Kerechanin; and by sisters, Helen Zych, Anna Or- mando and Julia Wester.
