EE RR SSE EE SR [ENS EEE LH 10 The Post SCHOOL Sunday, February 1, 2004 Scholarship offered for | Audubon summer camp The Greater Wyoming Valley Audubon Society is offering a scholarship for one boy or girl between the ages of 10 and 13 to the Audubon Youth Camp in Maine this coming summer. The competition is open to anyone in this age group. The scholarship covers half the tuition. Participants must have an interest in natural things — birds, frogs, plants, insects etc. — and a concern about wildlife conservation. The youth camp at Hog Is- land takes a group of 50 young people for a 10-day session in late July. The curriculum in- cludes marine science, geology, forest ecology, ornithology and field and pond studies, all tai- lored to the 10-13 age group. Campers are led by science and environmental educators who have strong backgrounds work- ing with elementary and mid- dle school-age youth. Campers learn about themselves, nature and how to relate to the envi- ronment. Selection of the winner will be made by a committee of the Greater Wyoming Valley Audubon Society. Lake-Lehman Kindergarten Readiness Program Feb. 3-3 The Lake-Lehman School District announces the third in- stallment of the Kindergarten Readiness Program for parents and pre-school children. The program is scheduled for Feb- ruary 3, 4, and 5, and will fea- ture “Nutrition and Health.” Faculty from each building will conduct the presentation. It will include an explanation of proper nutrition for children and will include the screening procedures for kindergarten registration in March. Separate activities are intended for the children. Practice SAT at Dallas The Dallas High School Guidance Department, in conjunction with the Princeton Review, will offer a practice SAT at Dallas High School on Saturday, Feb. 14. The test will be given beginning at 8 a.m. Students should arrive no later than 7:45 a.m. The test is open to all area college bound students. Each student will receive a detailed printout of their strengths and weaknesses to help prepare them for the actual SAT. There is a $25 charge. Rosetti art contest entries sought All area students in grades 7-12 are invited to enter the 23rd An- nual Suzanne Maria Rossetti Memorial Juried Art Contest. Joe and Sue Hand of Dallas sponsor the contest in memory of the daughter of Louise and the late Peter Rossetti of Saugus, Massa- chusetts.
