The 25-year-old Dorrance Township native spoke passionately to players and parents after being appointed unanimously at Tuesday’s meeting of the School Board. “I was surprised to see the looks in their eyes,” said Myers, wearing a dap- per suit and sporting a huge national championship runner-up ring from his playing days at Virginia Tech. “There was an interest in football and in a change. I was glad the guys came out.” The board voted 8-0 to hire Myers at .a coaching salary of $6,468 to replace four-year coach Bob Langan. (Board member Lois Kopcha didn’t attend the meeting). Obviously, I'm happy I'm here and things didn’t work out on his end.” However, Mahon said Waters and Myers were “1 and 1A” after the Board whittled nine applicants down to four, then two. “When you can call (Virginia Tech coach) Frank Beamer and get a recom- mendation ...,” Mahon said. “(Myers) wants an office because he told me Tm going to be here until 10 o'clock at See COACH, pg 8 Lisa Wasser Is all-state In soccer Midfielder Lisa Wasser has been named to the Pennsylvania Soccer Coaches Association’s girls all-state soccer team. Wasser was a top athlete at Lehman, also excelling in field hockey and basketball, and a perennial all-star in soccer. She started all 23 games and finished with a team-high seven as- sists and two goals.
