SCHOOL 12 The Post Sunday, November 30, 2003 Veterans’ Day celebrated at Dallas Middle Seheol The annual Veterans’ Day assembly was recently held at the Dallas Middle School. The program was moderated by student president Margo Aideuis, who opened the assembly by leading the audience in the pledge of allegiance. The pledge was followed by the select chorus, under the di- rection of Mrs. Jill Antall, leading the assembly in the singing of patriotic songs. Assistant princi- pal Paul Reinert spoke about the importance of the holiday. Anthony Martinelli, middle school principal, read a presidential proclamation rec- ognizing the holiday. Eighth grade student Joseph Bevevino read his essay about his veteran hero, Dr. Juan DeRojas. Joe then introduced, Dr. DeRojas as the main speaker. ; ; Dr. DeRojas spoke about his recent experiences as a forward field surgeon in 7 Fig, Ting slides, he brought out the military and environmental problems faced by our troops in the field. Also honored by the students were representatives from the Daddow-Isaacs Dallas American Legion post 672.
