It will be an afternoon of fun and an exciting year of Girl Scout fun and adventure. Girls from kindergarten to twelfth grade may join the Girl Scouts. The national registration fee is $10 and financial assistance is available for eligible families. The festivities will be held at the Lehman-Jackson School playground from 2 to 4 p.m. Some of the activities planned are tie-dying shirts (please bring a clean white tee shirt), water balloon games, fishing, make a fuzzy felt fish magnet, a buried treasure dig and have your picture taken as a hula girl. Petry, Ph.D. during a dinner and public forum to be held on Wednesday, September 17 at the Sheehy-Farmer = Campus Center on the King’s College campus in Wilkes-Barre. The event is sponsored by The Ethics Institute of Northeast Pennsylvania at College Miseri- cordia. Dr. Petry’s lecture, “The Call to Civility and Ethical Leadership,” will be presented to community leaders during a closed program from 5:15 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. A second forum will be held and is open to the general public beginning at 7:30 p.m. Dr. Petry is the executive di- rector and a member of the board of directors of the Ethics Officer Association (EQOA). Since 1995 when Dr. Petry as- sumed the EOA’s top executive position, membership in the as- sociation has grown by more than 500 percent to nearly 900 members, and includes more than 50 percent of the Fortune 100 as well as other notable or- ganizations, including the New York Stock Exchange, the American Cancer Society and the City of New York. At the EOA, Dr. Petry has overseen the development of what are recognized as the pre- mier conferences and training programs in the business ethics field. He has developed partner- ships between the EO and the World Bank and the US. Sen- tencing Commission and is now leading an effort to create a Global Business Conduct Standard. Dr. Petry has edited and/or co-authored six books on busi- ness ethics, including The Ethi- cal Edge: Tales of Organiza- tions That Have Faced Moral Crises (1996); and The Ethics of Accounting and Finance (1996). He has authored sever- al major business surveys, arti- cles on business ethics and has been a featured speaker at nu- merous national and interna- tional forums. He has been quoted or appeared on the top- ic of corporate ethics and com- pliance. in journals, newspapers and media outlets, including CNN, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, FOX News, The Today Show, The New York Times, The Financial Times and many others. He received his Ph.D. in phi- losophy from The Pennsylvania State University and has de- grees from The University of Toronto and Trinity College. Dr. Petry, his wife, and three sons reside in Worcester, Mass. Dr. Petry’s theme will contin- ue at the Ethics Institute’s an- nual Ethics Day dinner, sched- uled for October 23 at the Woodlands Inn and Resort.
