Galicki, Princi- pal of the Dallas Senior High School, announces that the 2003-2004 school year will be- gin for all students in the Dal- las School District on Tuesday, August 26. The first day of! school is a full-day session. The professional staff of the Dallas Schools will participate in ori- entation programs on Monday, August 25. The high school begins at 8 p.m. and dismisses at 2:58 p.m. Parents should consult the bus routes published in this news- paper to determine their child’s bus assignment and departure points. Concerns about bus transportation should be ad- dressed to Mrs. Susan Farr. Bus Coordinator, at the Dallas School District Administration Offices. Church Street, Dallas. All Dallas = Senior High School seniors, juniors and sophomores should consult the bulletin board listings in the cafeteria, and report to their as- signed homerooms at 8 a.m. Dallas Senior High School freshmen should consult the bulletin board listings at the main office entrance and report to their assigned homerooms. Secondary students who have . not registered for school should report to the building office of their respective schools. The school lunch program will begin on August 26. Stu- dent lunches for senior high school students are a la carte. Dallas Middle School Mr. Anthony B. Martinelli, Principal, and his staff have been busy al summer readying the Dallas Middle School build- ing and program for the open- ing classes on Tuesday, August 26. : Sixth,seventh, and eighth grade students should report to the middle school building be- tween 7:45 and 8 a.m. Sixth grade students should report to the auditorium. Seventh grade students should report to the gymnasium. Eighth grade stu-- dents should report to the cafe- teria. A short orientation pro- gram including assignment to homerooms will be made. Stu- dents will then report to their homerooms in preparation for QW their first day of school. Students will be able to pur- chase lunch beginning with the first day of school. The price of a regular lunch is $1.60 and a reduced lunch is 40¢. Students who participated in the free or reduced lunch program last year will begin the new year on the same status. Dallas Elementary For kindergarten to fifth grade students who attend the Dallas Elementary School, school will begin on Tuesday, August 26. Students will be attending full day sessions from 9:10 a.m. to 3:40 p.m. parents should consult the bus routes pub- lished in this newspaper and from school the first day to fa- cilitate student awareness of their bus assignment and to aid the school district in maintain- ing accurate and comprehen- sive student transportation records. If it is necessary for a parent to accompany a child to "school, it is suggested that the student ride the bus and the parent meet the student at the school building. Regular student lunches will be available the first day. Ele mentary lunches are $1.50, and milk is 45¢. Students may bring their entire lunch or may pur- chase their beverage. Snacks are available. Kindergarten students will attend pre-arranged sessions on August 26 or August 27. On Thursday, August 28, morning students will take buses to school and be dismissed at 10:30 a.m. Afternoon students will be picked up for a 2:15 p.m. arrival at school and will be dismissed with the other students at the end of the day. On Friday, August 29, they will attend regularly scheduled kindergarten sessions. To facilitate student room as- signments, class lists are now posted at Dallas Elementary School. All students who know their assignments may report directly to their classroom on the first day. The following plans have been made for stu- dents who have not had the op- portunity to check posted lists. All second, third, fourth and fifth grade students will report to the cafeterias. Gate of Heaven runs will be done first, followed by Dallas Secondary buses. Bishop Hoban High School and Wyoming Seminary Upper School students will be given the choice of riding a Gate of Heaven bus and transferring to the Hoban/Sem shuttle bus at Gate of Heaven or meeting the shuttle bus at the Gate of Heav- en parking lot before 7:25 am. There will be no stop locations from Gate of Heaven to Semi- nary/Hoban. Most routes will remain the same as last year. Unless a stu- dent is going home to a differ- ent location, the AM and PM bus numbers usually will be the same. Some Elementary students may have to shuttle to their schools.
