The Kingston Township Board of Supervisors would like to re- mind residents that yard waste such as grass, leaves, twigs and small tree branches may be dropped off free of charge at the Town- ship Public Works Facility grounds on East Center Street in Shavertown, or at the Dallas Area Municipal Authority located just off State Route 309 North, opposite Wasserott’s. The Public Works Facility location is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, while the Dallas Area Municipal Authority site is accessible week- days from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1 to 4 p.m. Call 696-3809 with any questions. Dallas Borough weed ordinance The residents and property owners of Dallas Borough are reminded that the Borough's “Weed Nuisance Ordinance” re- quires that all grass and weeds within the borough be cut and removed no later than July 1 of each year or earlier if necessary. Due to the above normal rain- fall this season many properties in the borough are overgrown. Under the Boroughs Ordi- nance, property owners who fail to comply with the Weed Ordinance are in violation and subject to a fine. Dallas Harvest Festival scheduled Dallas Borough and the Dal- las Community Harvest Festi- val Task Force announce the Dallas Community Harvest Fes- tival, scheduled for Sunday, September 14 from 1 to 6 p.m. The event will take place, rain or shine, on Main St., Dallas, between the Route 415 inter- section and Huntsville Road. The festival will showcase the Back Mountain’s agricultur- al heritage with a large farmer’s market to feature this year’s fall harvest. An apple-pie baking contest, Master Gardener con- sultations, and 4-H activities and displays will be featured. In addition, a variety of entertain- ment, crafts and food vendors are scheduled, and a trolley route will be designated to fa- cilitate parking. Participation by area mer- chants is anticipated to feature special sale events and sidewalk sales, and a judging will take place for the Main Street Flower Box Contest. The con- test is open to all Main Street businesses. “We are hoping that people from all over will come to cele- brate Dallas as a community, as we showcase our businesses, ar- tisans and area growers.
