Overall, the Hawks had a .288 team batting average com- ing out of Sunday’s 16-7 loss to Greater Pittston. But success on the stat sheet has not trans- lated to success on the baseball diamond. “One thing for sure is, in baseball, there’s a lot of fail- ures,” said head coach Tom Evans. “The baseball mentality requires you don’t get down when you make a mistake.” Back Mountain players have refused to let that happen. The team rebounded from an eight- game losing streak by whipping Nanticoke, 13-6, Tuesday. Although not mathematically eliminated from post-season contention at press time, the Hawks would likely need to win the rest of their games and “We have the team unity. We just have to minimize the errors.” Ryan Gryskevicz Dallas get plenty of help from other teams to make the league play- offs, which begin July 20. Still, they maintain a calm and dedicated approach. “The focus is just for every- body to do their job, take care of their own responsibilities, and try not to do too much,” Evans said. That philosophy has inspired confidence in his team, which looks to end its season on a strong note. “We have all the pieces of the puzzle,” Shiskows- ki said. “We just need to gel to- gether and produce some ”» wins.
