oe “ L 4 The Dallas Post COMMUNITY Tometchkos celebrate 50th Mr. and Mrs. Stephen E. Tometchko of Dallas celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Tuesday, June 24. The couple was married in St. Mary’s R.C. Church, Plymouth, by Rev. Valentine A. Plevyak. Anna Mae Gryskiewicz Kaminski was maid of honor and the late Bernard Sobotka was the best man. Mrs. Tometchko, the former Joan Desciak, is the daughter of the late Stephen and Anna Desciak, Mr. Tometchko is a veteran of the Korean Conflict and is the son of the late Stephen and Su- san Tometchko. The Tometchkos have two daughters: Joanne Armaghan, Kingston, and Dianne Ruch, Dallas. They also have four grand- children: Reza and Sarah Armaghan and Matthew and Stephen Ruch. The occasion was celebrated with a family dinner reception. Viglones celebrate 30 years Ron and Judith Viglone of Spring St., Shavertown celebrated their 30 wedding anniversary June 30. They were married at St. Theresa’s Church, Shavertown, by the late Father Joseph Sammons on June 30, 1973. Attendants were Barbara Tumolo, maid of honor, Mary Ann Klein and Jace- lyn Hook brides maids. Jill McGuire Morris was the flowergirl. Dr. Michael Habib was the bestman and Jay McGuire and John Abraham brother-in-laws were the groomsman. Jay McGuire Jr. was the ring bearer. Mrs. Viglone is the former Judith E. Stanley, daughter of the late Rose and Michael Stanley, Trucksville. she was employed by the late Dr. William Policoff. Mr. Viglone is the son of the late Anthony and Linda Viglone of Wilkes-Barre. He is employed at St. Michael’s School Tunkhannock as a In- termediate Math Teacher. He retired from Federal Express in 1999. He is also associated with the Marilyn K. Snyder Real Es- tate Company as a Real Estate Agent. The couple has 2 children, Michael and Shannon and a new daughter-in-law Beth Ann (Wagner) Viglone. Members of the Rotary Club of Dallas recently attended the 82nd Annual Rotary International District 7410 Conference in the Poconos. The weekend began with a golf tournament, followed by informational meetings and speakers then dinner and entertain- ment each evening. One of the guest speakers was Dunmore native Paul Richards, a NASA astronaut who served as mission specialist on the shuttle Discovery in March of 2001. PA is recruiting volun- teers for the Senior Peer Counseling Program in Wyoming and Luzerne Counties. This program provides one-to-one supportive counseling to senior citizens who are confined to their homes or who don’t feel comfortable in a traditional mental health setting. Volunteers should be 55 years of age or older, able to devote thr hours a week, have good listening skills and enjoy relating to new people. Training is provided. Kingston Township warns on water The Kingston Township Zoning Officer reminds the residents that it is unlawful to have any collection of standing water, except for agricultural purposes, in which mosquitos are likely to breed, unless such collection of water is treated or maintained to prevent such breeding. The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and Health warn that there is a chance the West Nile Virus could be spread into Pennsylvania this summer by the com- mon mosquito. Township residents are requested to eliminate from their property any accumulation of stagnant water to help prevent the spread of mosquitoes.
