The Anthracite Scenic Trails Association (ASTA) and the Back Mountain Bloomers Garden Club have teamed up to offer a tour of Back Mountain gardens. The event will take place Saturday, June 28, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., rain or shine. In conjunction with the tour, a small standard flower show will be held at 426 Huntsville Road, Dallas. (An article in last week’s issue incorrectly stated the show would be at 8 Pioneer Ave., Shavertown.) The public is invited to submit entries at this address. The tour will include seven gardens in Dallas, Shavertown, Lehman Township and Franklin Township, each exhibiting a unique style and relationship to the home it complements, from historic to contemporary. Visitors may stop at any or all of the homes. Proceeds benefit the ASTA effort to complete the Back Mountain Trail. Children under 12 will not be admitted. Tickets will be avail- able at $17 the day of the event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Back Mountain Memorial Library. NUNSENSE returns to the Music Box Regina Rockensies of Dallas as Sr Amnesia with her puppet - Sister Mary Amnesia. Some habits are hard to break! And the very good and very funny Little Sisters of Hoboken prove this to be true as they visit the Music Box Dinner Playhouse once again to raise its roof with two hours of non-stop laughter. Dan Goggin’s ingenious “Sister Act” has been playing before New York audiences for years while its National tours and summer stock pro- ductions have entertained millions. Locally, the Music Box has delighted packed houses in previ- ous productions and another madcap edition will be presented June 27-29, at the Playhouse, 196 Hughes St., Swoyersville. Five of the most talented nuns led by Sister Mary Regina (formerly Debbie Zehner prior to entering the convent) will prove that an evening of song and dance and other Nunsense with the Little Sisters is more fun than a hundred games of BINGO. Assisting the Mother Superior is Sis- ter Mary Amnesia (formerly Regina Rockensies of Dallas). Tickets are now on sale for Dinner/Show and Show-only. There are special reduced prices for senior citizens, students, and children. Battle of Wyoming will be ob- served at the traditional cere- monies on Friday, July 4 at the Wyoming Monument National Historic Site, Wyoming. The observance, is sponsored by the Wyoming Commemorative Association and will begin with a band concert featuring the Wyoming Valley band at 10 a.m. after which the cere- monies will begin at 10:30 a.m. The event is free. A number of special program features will mark the 225th anniversary of the battle. Following the pro- gram at the Wyoming Monu- ment, the Luzerne County His- torical society will feature a display of artifacts from the Battle of Wyoming from noon to 2 p.m. at the Swetland Homestead, 885 Wyoming Av- enue, Wyoming.
