Local dancers to take part in 20th anniversary gay “Memories” the Joan Harris Centre's twentieth anniversary gala will be present- ed Friday June 13 and Saturday June 14 at the FEM. Kirby Center in Wilkes-Barre. Nearly 200 dancers from Back Mountain communities will be taking part in the fes- tivities. Twelve instructors have researched the hundreds of performances the studio has produced over the past 20 years and cho- sen works that represent each part of the centre’s development. Designed to be a walk, or should we say a dance down memory lane, every piece to be showcased was choreographed and staged in a previ- ous show. Classic children routines and even some obvious throwback numbers to the ‘80s will join large production numbers that have not been seen in over a decade. The lobby of the Kirby Center will be transformed into a walk-through time cap- sule with photos, posters, letters and mem- orabilia from the past 20 years. The audi- ence will be treated to live music by the popular local band Long Time Coming be- fore the show and during intermission. To complete the gala, there will be a reception at the Ramada Hotel on public square after the Friday night and Saturday night per- formances for the dancers and the audi- ence members to gather and exchange memories. The public is invited to all these events with a special invitation to alumni of the school to attend the shows and even to join their fellow dancers on the stage for the show’s finale. “Memories” is scheduled for three per- formances, Friday June 13 at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday June 14 at 1:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. Tickets are $12 and $15 and are available at both campuses of the Joan Harris Cen- tre or can be purchased the day of the event.
