While they were waiting for food, students played frisbee, above, or a least pretended to for the camera. From left, Lake-Lehman seniors Mike Rusonis, Matt Ide, Brian Cor- nia and Aaron Moyer. Some area parents see the or- ganization as a good way to bring attention to female ath- letes, who often find themselves overlooked because of the popu- larity of men’s sports. “You can take talent and take potential in girls and maximize it,” said Mary Ellen O'Brien, a Shavertown resident who has twin daughters in grade. Both children are active in sports. O'Brien said she plans to urge them to take advantage of what the Society has to offer. Besides the clinics and semi- nars, the Society's objectives in- clude recognizing achievement, providing opportu- nities for lifetime fitness and wellness activities for all ages, developing an appreciation of women’s athletics, and encour- aging camaraderie between di- verse sport participants.
