dr ——— 2 The Dallas Post Dallas, PA Friday, May 23, 2003 OBITUARIES ERNEST PLISCOTT U.S. Navy veteran Ernest Joseph Pliscott, 76, of Dallas, died Sunday May 18, 2003 at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes- Barre. Born Aug. 25, 1926, in Ex- eter, he was a son of the late Ernest C. and Regina (Bean) Pliscott. He graduated from Ex- eter High School and Penn State University. He resided in Southington Conn., where he was served on the Legion of Mary Committee and worked in the engineering department of General Electric, Plainville, Conn. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, serv- ing in the Pacific aboard the USS LST 1000 and the LST 325, attempting transfer from Greece to the United States. He received the Philippine Libera- tion Ribbon, Pacific Theater Ribbon, American Theater Rib- bon and the Victory Medal. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, - Center- moreland, where he served as a Eucharistic minister and on the finance and social commit- tees. He was also a member of the National Electric Engineer- ing Association and volun- teered as a van driver for trans- port of cancer patients. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer. Surviving are his wife of 50° years, the. former Eleanor T. Hendrzak; sons, James, Empo- ria, :Va.; Ernest C., Tampa, Fla.; a granddaughter; brother, Fred J., Exeter; and sister, Mil- dred Pliscott Furgele, Lake Wallenpaupack. WILLIAM RODGERS Ww Army veteran William S. “Will” Rodgers, 86, of Dallas, died Tuesday May 13, 2003 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born April 2, 1917, in Wilkes- Barre, he was a son of the late George and Lela (VanLoon) Rodgers. He attended Meyers High School and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving' as an infantryman. He was employed in the research and development department of AT&T Bell Laboratory, Murray Hill, N.J. He was a member of the development group for the Telstar communications project and served as deacon of Hyde- wood Baptist Church, New Jer- sey. He was a member of Tall Cedars Drum and Bugle Corps, North Plainfield, N.J. and a member of the Union Harmonica Band. He was a member of the Wyoming Avenue Christian Church, Kingston, the Tele- phone Pioneers and the Wood Carvers Association. : He was preceded in death by brother, Richard. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, the former Della Caster- line; sister, Mary ‘* Bremmer, Wall, N.J.; and nieces and nephews. Memorial donations may be made to the church.
