This is the 66th year of the observance. The parade will leave the Post home at 9 a.m. and go to the Memorial in Dallas Borough for wreath laying and a short program. The parade will then go to the Woodlawn Cemetery for a Memorial Day service. Main speaker this year will be Don Sherwood, U.S. Repre- sentative of the 10th Congressional District. He will be intro- duced by Charles D. Lemmond, PA 20th Senatorial District. The parade will feature the award-winning Dallas High School band under the direction of Todd Hunter. The Legion Drill Team will conduct the Salute to the Departed Veterans of All wars. - The clergy will be Pastor Lambert of Gate of Heaven Church, -and Pastor Lewis of the Dallas United Methodist Church. All fire companies, youth groups of the Back Moun- tain, Dallas Lions Club, Units of the Legion, Legion Auxilary and Sons of the Legion will participate. Rec park gains $200,000 grant ® LEHMAN TWP. — Construction of soccer fields, set to begin this summer, recently received a boost. The Pennsylvania De- partment of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) has awarded Back Mountain Recreation a $200,000 Community Recreation Grant for the further development of the Back Mountain Regional Recreation Complex. Applied for by the Back Mountain Recreation Board in Octo- ber 2002, the grant announced May 2 will be used for further construction of soccer fields. “We're thrilled to get it, it’s going to mean a few more fields getting built,” said Brian Grove, new executive director of Back Mountain Recreation Inc. A press release about the grant stated, “With the help of DCNR, the PA Department of Community and Economic De- velopment, local foundations and private donors, BMR has ac- quired the property for the complex and is in the process of fi- nalizing engineering and design. The bidding process for construction of the first athletic field is scheduled to soon: @ June, with construction commencing in August.” “We are thrilled with the continued enthusiasm and strong level of support for our project from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and all of our community partners.
