Bonnie Lynn Mendelssohn and Jeffrey David Kenewell, Lt.,
United States Army, were united in marriage on November 23,
2002 at the Westmoreland Club, Wilkes-Barre. The ceremony
was performed by Rev. William Summerhill, Chaplain at
Wyoming Seminary Upper School. :
Bonnie Lynn is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Saul
Mendelssohn of Dallas. The groom is the son of Mrs. Loreen
Panzaru of Shelby Twp., Michigan and Mr. David Kenewell,
Rochester Hills, Michigan.
The bride, escorted by her father, chose her sister Carly
Michele as her Maid of Honor. Her bridesmaid was her sister,
Emily Anne. Kara Maria Moscatelli, cousin of the bride and
Emma Lucken, niece of the groom, were flower girls.
The groom chose his father, David Kenewell, as his best man.
Michael Bolcek, friend of the groom and David Guenther, his
nephew were groomsmen. Steven Guenther, also a nephew of
the groom, was ring bearer.
The reception followed the ceremony at the Westmoreland
Club. A rehearsal dinner was hosted by Loreen and Daniel Pan-
zaru, mother and stepfather of the groom and Sybil and David
Kenewell, father and step mother of the groom, at the
Huntsville Golf Club, Dallas.
Mrs. Kenewell is a graduate of Wyoming Seminary Upper
School and earned her Bachelors degree in Psychology at Amer-
ican University, Washington, D.C. She is currently completing
her Masters Degree in Special Education at Kansas State -Uni-
versity in Manhattan, Kansas.
Lt. Kenewell is a graduate of Howe Military School, Howe, In-
diana and is a graduate of the United States Military Academy
at West Point where he earned a B.S. in Systems Engineering.
He is currently a Field Artillery Officer stationed at Fort Riley,
Kansas and is preparing to join the forces in defense of our
country in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
The couple presently reside at Fort Riley, Kansas.

Harveys Lake dumpster open

lowed as long as there is no

bag small, loose items.

Trinity welcomes three new members
The Trinity Presbyterian Church Confirmation Class of 2003 was
welcomed by the congregation on Palm Sunday, April 13. Shown
from left are: Anthony Macri, 8th grade; Mark Evans, 7th grade;
‘and Bradley Johnson, 6th grade. All are all students at Dallas Mid-
dle School.
Anthony Macri is the son of Tony and Lois Macri and brother of
Lauren and Nicole; Mark Evans is the son of Robin and Mark Evans
and brother of Tyler; Bradley Johnson is the son of Brian and Mari
Johnson and brother of Megan.
The Christian Education Committed hosted a reception in the fel-
lowship hall following the special service of confirmation.
Flea market at Trucksville Fire
The Trucksville Volunteer Fire Co. will be holding a Flea Market
on Saturday, May 10 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the fire hall, 11
Carverton Road, trucksville. Vendor spaces are $10 with table self-
provided, $15 with table provided by fire company. To reserve a
space, call 696-1871. Food and refreshments will be available.
Cancer Awareness Day at Mercy
Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre, will host its Sixth Annual Cancer
Awareness Day on Tuesday, April 29 from 12 noon to 4 p.m., in the
hospital's main lobby area.
A variety of cancer agency representatives, information booths and
brochures will be available. The event is designed to help individuals
and families learn how to reduce their risk of cancer through pre-
vention and early detection.
Entertainment will be provided by Susan Klein and A Family of
friends, Ventriloquist.
The event includes free parking and refreshments. Door prizes will
be awarded. There will be face painting for children.
Adult swim classes at Pittston YMCA
The Greater Pittston Y.M.C.A. is starting a new session of Adult
swim classes. Classes will be held every Friday from 10:30 to 11:15
a.m. the week of April 28, and run seven weeks.
Classes are designed especially for adults who wish to become ac-
quainted with the water or enhance their skills.

Paintings to benefit historical society
In conjunction with the cur-
rent En Plein Air Society exhibit,
Sue Hand and other members of
the society will hold a reception
on Sunday, April 27, from 2 to 4
p.m. at the Historical Society
Museum, 69 S. Franklin St.,
Wilkes-Barre. Visitors will be al-
lowed to bring a personal photo-
graph or postcard (landscape or
still-life only), and members of
the En Plein Air Society will cre-
ate a 5 x 7 painting of that im-
age while you wait. The cost for
this is $50 and all proceeds will
benefit the Historical Society.

dustry recently announced the
election of Scott Dagenais as
Chairman of the Board of Di-
rectors.
Dagenais is President of the
Northern Pennsylvania Division
of M&T Bank. As President, he
is responsible for coordinating
bank activities in the market as
well as the development of the
firm’s commercial business. He
is also Senior Vice President of
Manufacturers and Traders
Trust Company. Employed by
M&T Bank since 1985, he has
previously served as Controller
for both M&T Bank and its
holding company.
A licensed CPA, Dagenais is
a graduate of Western Michigan
University, earning an under-
graduate degree in Business
Administration. He is a member
of the Pennsylvania Bankers
Association Governing Council
and sits on the Board of Direc-
tors for the F.M. Kirby Center.
Dagenais lives in Shavertown
with his wife, Jacqi, and two
