Historical Association to discuss Back Mountain architecture The architecture of distinc- tive homes located in the Back Mountain will be the topic of discussion for the next Back Mountain Historical Associa- tion meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, April 23. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at the Catherine McGowan Conference Center in the Mary Kintz Bevevino Library on the College Misericordia campus in Dallas. Noted architect Carl J. Hand- man, A.L.A., of the architectur- al firm of Eyerman, Csala, Hapeman and Handman, will give an informal presentation on significant homes of the Back Mountain designed by ar- chitects in the years between World War I and World War II. Many familiar homes in beauti- ful settings of the Back Moun- tain were designed by regional- ly and nationally acclaimed ar- chitects. Handman will display photographs of these homes and discuss their design and history. Also during the meeting, Dr. Allan Austin, assistant profes- sor of history at College Miseri- cordia, will join his students in a presentation of the BMHA's oral history project. The new digital Back Mountain Archives, compiled by Dawn Pangrazzi, College Misericordia archivist and local resident Clyde Davis will be premiered. People interested in attend- ing the meeting on April 23 should RSVP to Debra Altavilla at 674-3341. Limited reserved parking will be available on campus near the Bevevino Li- brary.
