He was born in Wilkes-Barre, the son of Ralph and Muriel Klein, and graduated from Wyoming Semi- nary. The luncheon will be held at The Apple Tree Terrace, Newber- ry Estate, Dallas, starting with hospitality at 11:30 a.m. The cost of the luncheon, a major fund-raiser, is $17. Terrorism expert will speak at Penn State Wilkes-Barre “Terrorism and YOU, Attacks on Democracy in the 21st Cen- tury,” will be presented by Mar- tin Slann, Ph.D., director of aca- demic affairs at Penn State Wilkes-Barre, in the campus Center for Technology 101 on Tuesday, April 22 from 6-7:30 p.m. Dr. Slann’s lecture will fo- éus on the terrorist's motiva- tions, increased lethality, and terrorism as a global menace. An expert on terrorism, Dr. Slann has authored and co-au- thored numerous articles and books on the subject. Among his publications are the Encyclope- dia of Terrorism (with Cindy Combs); Multi-Dimensional Ter- rorism, Violence and Terrorism, and Ideological and Political Di- mensions of International Ter- rorism (all with Bernard Schechterman). His textbook supplement, The September 11 Attack on America and Its Aftermath will appear in the introductory section of all upcoming American Government and Political textbooks pub- lished by Houghton Mifflin.
