410 Dallas Post Dallas, PA . Thursday, April 10, 2033 Bowler (continued from page 9) ment, he has always had the assistance of his father and un- cle, which he feels has helped him greatly. He says he feels lucky to have had that advan- tage. Bobby is the second youngest bowler in his league and this season he has an average of 220. He says that 220 has been a usual average for him since he was 16 and attributes that to his family background. Gebhardt says he'd like to bowl professionally once he’s out of school and around 25 years old. “To go pro you must average over 200 for three years in at least two leagues,” he says. “[Then] you purchase your membership card and compete in tournaments.” Though he hasn't been on television as yet, he does partic- ipate in a tournament in Bloomsburg in October and February that attracts former professionals. Bobby, who resides in Shaver- town, believes he learns a lot from watching other bowlers. “If you bowl in a league with good bowlers, you get better after a while.” Should Gebhardt make the move to pro bowler in a few years, it'll be a much more ex- pensive endeavor, but victory can yield great rewards. “If a person likes bowling enough and sticks with it,” says Bobby, “they can keep getting better.” The cost for entering profes- sional tournaments is high, but there are many more high value prizes for doing well and Robert Gebhardt Jr. certainly seems to be on the right track to cash in a few. : POST PHOTO/JIM PHILLIPS Steph Frank dribbled the ball upfield during Lake-Lehman’s shutout of Meyers last week.
