Weber’s season ends on a sour note By JOE PETRUCCI For The Dallas Post HERSHEY — Lake-Lehman senior Willie Weber has nothing to show for his trip to the PIAA Wrestling Championships, and a questionable unsportsman- like conduct call against him all but ended his stellar high school career without a state medal. “He wrestled so hard, and he has nothing to show for it,” said Lehman coach Phil Lipski. After Weber lost 5-4 to Cochranton junior Nate Hogue in the Class 2A 160-pound quarterfinals, Weber was tied with Brookville’s Matt Gilbert 1-1 late in the third. Weber was clearly the aggressor and Lipski was asking for a stalling call on Gilbert from the official. Weber never got it, and after being called out of bounds, We- ber, in frustration, muttered to himself, “Jesus Christ” with about 15 seconds to go in the saying it to a ref. I didn’t even look at him.” Lipski felt the words he di- rected at the official also had an impact on the call. “He got called on a superficial incidental because I'm working the ref,” Lipski said. Weber has battled question- able calls — particularly on the bout. The unsportsmanlike edge of the mat — since the conduct call gave Gilbert a 2-1 district final against Mer- lead. Weber couldn't register a cadante. point in the final seconds. “I mumbled it, out of exhaus- tion,” said Weber, who lost two hard-fought finals at districts and regionals to Carlo Mer- cadante of Meyers. “I wasn’t Weber wishes it never hap- pened, but feels he didn’t do anything seriously wrong. “I definitely regret saying it ... but I would do it again,” Weber said. pi ys CROSSWORD CORNER Basketball shootout set for March 23 The Kingston Township Recre- ation Commission announces the 8th Annual Back Mountain Basketball Shootout Competition will take place Sunday, March 23 at the Dallas Elementary School Gym. Dragon (continued from page 9) with two seconds left. Dragon’s determination, par- ticularly late in the third *@ and overtime, helped erase physical and mental pain from not getting to the championship final. Anything easier, or a loss, wouldn't have been as satisfying. “Coming back like that, I'm happy,” Dragon said. “If 1 would've beaten up a kid or got beaten up, I wouldn't feel as good.” ERAT FRE £180 1-3 J bY Linda Thistle PER FORMANCE Using the clues, simple arithmetic, TR iB 181 eY 10 SSWOTX REVIEW and a little logic, place a single digit (0 to 9) ° each empty box in 5 6 [7 4 the diagram.
