Section 2 Black Knights 8th at Junior High tourney Lake-Lehman finished eighth out of 27 teams in the District 2 Ju- nior High School wrestling tournament, held Feb. 15 at Lake- Lehman High School. Dallas finished 19th. Justin Schell was the only Lake-Lehman winner, taking an 8-1 deci- sion over Devin Lindsey of Lackwanna Trail at 155 lbs. Placing second were Mike Prater (145) and Joe Klemunes (165). Nathan & en at 115. Vian Goeringer was the top Dallas wrestler, winning fourth at 1435. Hazleton Area won the tournament, and Darren Keen of Coughlin was named coach of the year. Byron wins four times for Hoban DALLAS — The Bishop Hoban girls swimming team got a four- win performance from Caroline Byron in a 118.5-58.5 victory again Berwick on Thursday in a WVC meet at Dallas: High School. Byron won the 50 and 100 freestyle events and was on two winning relay teams as Hoban remained undefeated at 12-0. Bishop Hoban 76, Wyoming Seminary 26 Caroline Byron won the 100 freestyle as Bishop Hoban beat Wyoming Seminary 76-26 Feb. 12. Byron also was on the win- ning 400 free relay team. BOYS SWIMMING Dallas 118, Valley View 45 DALLAS — Joe Stredny post- d wins in the 200 IM and 100 tterfly and swam on two win- ning relay teams for Dallas. HIGH BOYS BASKETBALL Wyoming Area 55, Dallas 40 YATESVILLE © — Wyoming Area defeated Dallas, 55-40, Feb. 14 in the Wyoming Valley Conference Junior High boys basketball second-half, title game at Pittston Area High School. The Warriors outscored Dallas 20-10 in the second period to take a 30-20 halftime lead. Dallas's Brad Fagula scored a game-high 17 points. Eric Domzalski added 10. Nick Samanus netted six. JR. HIGH GIRLS BASKETBALL Dallas 41, Wyoming Valley West 28 YATESVILLE — Dallas took advantage of a slow-starting Wyoming Valley West offense to win a WVC Junior High girls play-in game. The Mountaineers led 10-2 af- ter one quarter and 23-11 at the half. Lyndsay Ellis and Melissa Gorski paced the second-quarter offense by scoring seven and six points, respectively. Ellis fin- ished with 10 points and Gorski added eight. Steph Konecke paced the Mountaineers in the second half by scoring eight of her nine points. DYB banquet tickets on sale Dallas Youth Basketball will hold its year-end banquet on Sun- day, April 13 at 6 p.m. at Genetti’'s in Wilkes Barre. All girls and boys awards and trophies will be presented and a family style din- ner will be served. The cost is $13 for adults, $10 for children 12 and under, and age 4 and under are free.
