Dance joined with the Reper- tory Dance Theatre, in Allentown, for seven performances of “The Nutcracker”. Repertory Dance Theatre is a newly established pro- fessional company in the Lehigh valley. Auditions were held in New York City in the late summer. Six dancers were hired to form the nu- cleus of this company, which is augmented by students from the Haltzman School of Dance. Kira Szulborski, left, and Jaime Verazin auditioned and were chosen for several parts in “The Nutcracker”. The Allentown Symphony Orchestra provided live music for the sev- en sold-out performances. Kira is the daughter of Dr. Robert Szulborski and Dr. Debra Serfass of Dallas, and Jaime is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Gary Verazin of Shavertown. While growing up in the pizza busi- ness, the three sons and their nephew each opened a Colarusso’s location and offer a full Italian menu, and a fresh,. delicous cuisine across the Wyoming Valley. Desi’s Pizza - Opened Dallas location in 1989. 4 stores. The Desi- dario family opened The Leader Pizzeria, one of the first pizza par- lors in Wilkes-Barre. After the flood, the pizzeria did not reopen, but the Desidario boys decided to continue the family tradition and re- open the Desi’s restaurant in Wilkes-Barre and other locations. De- si's features the Giant Sheet Pizza, a full bar, and late night deliv- ery. Din0’s - Shavertown store opened six weeks ago. 4 stores. The first Dino's, named after grandfather Leonardio, opened in the Wyoming Valley Mall 25 years ago near JC Penney. The restaurant later moved into the food court location, and since then over 20 Di- no's restaurants have been franchised around the country. Dino's features a quick, casual atmosphere with a large menu to satisfy everyone's taste buds. Dough Company - Opened in Dallas in 1991. 2 locations. The Dough Company, named for the “dough” found in their delicous family recipe of pizza and pasta, first opened in Wilkes-Barre in 1985. The restaurant, always striving for quality, tries to respond to its customers needs. The Dough Company features the popular low- fat cheese, whole wheat dough pizza, as well as a lactose intolerant cheese, in order to satisfy every customer’s appetite. Grotto - Harveys Lake location opened in 1953. 4 locations. Joe Paglianite opened -Joe’s Pizza on the lake in 1953 and later changed his name to Joe’s Grotto Pizza. Grotto, defined as an underwater cave, was eventually shortened in the 1960s. Grotto Pizza, celebrat- ing its 50th anniversary, has become synonomous with summers at Harveys Lake. » Hogan’s Pizza and Subs - opened in 1993. 1 location. Bob Hogan partnered with Pepperoni Brother's Johnny Ray 10 years ago to establish Hogan's Pizza and Subs. The restaurant, originally lo- cated across from the Burger King, moved to its present location five years ago. Hogan's features the “pizza king” Johnny Ray, offers de- livery and take out, and includes a full service bar. Pizza Perfect - Opened 28 years ago, 1 store, The nationally known Pizza Perfect, located on Carverton Road, offers Sicilian style pizza, which is shipped around the country or even overseas at least once or twice a week. Pizza Perfect, famous for its pizza and wings, does a good job of living up to its name. Reds Subs and Pizza - Open 18 years. 1 location. Red's Subs and Pizza, started by Debbie and David 18 years ago, first opened in Lake Silkworth, moved to the corner of Route 29 and 118, operated out of a trailer for one year and moved to its present location 10 years ago. Red's Subs, named for Debbie's father, “Red,” is famous for its pagash, offers homemade sauce, dough and cooked meals, and enjoys keeping their customers satisfied. HI GUYS - Open 29 years. 4 locations. Mark Perelis, his older brother, and his brother-in-law started III Guys 29 years ago in Kingston.
