Semifinalists for Hoinski Awards Staff report The Killer Bees Athletic Club has announced semifinalists for the Joe Hoinski Awards for Ex- cellence in Athletics. The club will honor Hoinski fi- nalists, as well as Student Ath- lete finalists and Board of Gover- nor Award winners, at its 20th annual banquet, which is set for 1 p.m. Feb. 2 at Genetti Hotel & Convention Center in Wilkes- Barre. Cost for tickets is $30 per person and can be obtained by calling Ted Wampole at 270- 6960. The selection process began with nominations submitted by the public and club members. From there, eight in each cate- gory were selected as semifinal- ists by the club’s selection com- mittee, which included club members and members of the local media. The Hoinski Awards are named in honor of a club mem- ber who was killed in a motorcy- cle accident. They are given to the individuals voted as the area’s top amateur athletes. See AWARDS, pg 12 Harveys Lake Little League registration Registration for the 2003 season at Harveys Lake Little League will be held on Saturday, Feb. 1, and Saturday, Feb. 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Harveys Lake Recreation Building. Children ages 5 to 16 who live in Harveys Lake Borough and Lake Township are eligible to register to play baseball or softball. The registration fee is $35 per child or $45 per household. Parent or guardian must have a photocopy of every player's birth certificate at the time of registration (even players who have enrolled in the past), and insurance information.
