6 Dallas Post Dallas, PA Thursday, December 12, 2002 Trinity Church to raise funds for food bank The Mission Outreach Com- mittee of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Dallas will hold fundraisers to help raise money for the Back Mountain Food Pantry. Volunteers will be staffing a book gift wrapping table at Barnes and Noble in Wilkes-Barre on Saturday, De- cember 14 from 6-9 p.m. On December 12 from 4-9 p.m., additional volunteers will be on hand at Pizza Hut in Dal- las to greet dine-in customers and encourage them to men- tion Trinity and the food pantry as they pay at the register. A portion of their meal cost will then be donated to the pantry. The public is invited to attend these events to help raise funds for this important local mission in our community. As over the past decade, this year’s program will be staged complete- ly outdoors on a hillside behind Back Mountain Harvest Assembly, Carverton Road, Trucksville. People come from more than 100 miles distant to see the nativity story re-enacted with live animals, shepherds and angels on a hill- side and the procession of three kings to the manger in Bethlehem as they come to offer their adoration. A few tips if you're planning to attend: This year’s performances will be: Friday, Dec. 13 at 7 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 14 and Sunday, Dec. 15 performances at 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Dress warmly. Christmas Eve ‘lighting of the luminaries’ The Shavertown Fire Department and members of the Back Moun- tain Catholic Youth Council are selling luminary packets (includes 12 votive candles, 12 small bags, packet of sand & World Prayer for Peace) on the two weekends before Christmas. Packets cost $6 each, or 2 for $10. Shavertown Fire Department will be selling in front of Thomas’ Family Market, Shavertown. The Youth Council members will sell after all masses at the following churches: Gate of Heaven Church, Dallas; Our Lady of Victory Church, Harveys Lake; St. Frances X.
