In addition, they collected food at Thomas’ Supermarket and in each home room at Lake-Lehman High School. “We also went to the first and third grade CCD class- es at the church and talked to the kids and had them decorate bags to take home to collect food,” said Laura Donovan. In all, the girls collected close to 100 bags of food, which were then distributed to needy fami- lies in the Back Mountain. “My mom told me about the collec- tion at work and we'll take all of that food to the Food Pantry,” said Donovan. The volunteers at the Back Mountain Food Pantry will con- tinue their winter food drive through December 18. “So far, the response has been very good. We received quite a lot from Dallas High School and Dallas Middle School,” said Louise Hazeltine. “We've collect- ed enough to get us through Thanksgiving and into the New Year. The needs of the Food Pantry are year-round and special col- lections are always welcome. The Cub Scouts of Pack 155 of Trucksville will be holding a dri- ve in January. Anyone interest- ed in sponsoring a food collec- tion can call Trucksville United Methodist Church at 696-3897. ” POST PHOTO/M.B. Mercy Hall (continued from page 1) 2002, the building underwent extensive renovation, resulting in more classrooms and better facilities for students. Renaming the Administration Building as Mercy Hall is part of the celebration of the Advancing the Vision fund-raising cam- paign. What started as a $3.5 million campaign in October 2000, expanded to $5.2 million endeavor to enhance the future of College Misericordia. “Because of such generous giving, we have exceeded our original goal by almost $1.5 mil- lion,” said Sue Helwig, vice pres- ident for Institutional Advance- ment. “The successful comple- tion of the $5.2 million cam- paign will ensure that College Misericordia grows in excel- lence, in image, and in its posi- tive effect on future genera- tions.” The original goals for the cam- paign included raising $2.3 mil- lion to renovate the Administra- tion Building and add class- rooms, $700,000 to increase the endowment, $300,000 for con- structing a new athletic complex and $200,000 for new tennis courts. Enhancements to the renovations and construction, as well as the desire to have an even larger endowment to em- power financial aid for students, raised the bar for CM's develop- ment staff to $5.2 million. Their efforts to garner funds came on the heels of the successful $10 million “Campaign for College Misericordia,” completed just three years ago with the con- struction of the Mary Kintz Bevevino Library. The campaign's accomplish- ments include a renovated Ad- ministration Building, the new Mangelsdorf Field at the Dr. Robert Anderson Outdoor Ath- letic Complex, soon-to-be-built tennis courts, and $1.5 million added to the College's endow- ment. This generous donor sup- port has enabled College Miseri- cordia to add facilities and ser- vices without drawing on other sources of income such as tu- ition and fees. College Misericordia currently serves over 2,000 students who study both full and part-time in 29 degree programs. In the fall of 2002, College Misericordia welcomed its largest freshman class ever, over 350 new stu- dents. CM degrees are offered on the graduate and undergrad- uate level, along side many spe- cialized certificate programs.
