16 Dallas Post Dallas, PA Thursday, December 12, 2002 Aaron Cusma wins GOH geography bee On December 4, seventh grade student Aaron Cusma won the Gate of Heaven school level na- tional Geographic Bee and a chance at a $25,000 college scholarship. The school-level Bee was the first round in the 15th annual National Geographic Bee. Cusma now has a chance at a $25,000 college scholarship. After preliminary rounds deal- ing with U.S. cities, geography, and geography of economically important places/issues, 12 semifinalists, grades 5-8 emerged: Nicholas Latosek, Noah Zurad, Zachary Wallick, Casey Hampsey, Blair Constantino, Colleen Leahigh, Christopher DeRojas, Sarah Moga, Ariel Zu- rad, Aaron Cusma, John Bailey, and Kyle Gallagher. In the final round, Travel across America, three competi- tors remained: Ariel Zurad (Gr. 8), Sarah Moga (Gr. 6), and Aaron Cusma (Gr. 7). Cusma won the Bee by responding to queries about Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Promontory, Utah. Sarah Moga finished as runner-up. “‘Jeopardy’s” Cheryll Farrell will moderate the Pennsylvania GeoBee at Shippensburg Univer- sity on April 4; Alex Trebek will moderate the finals.
