The Dallas Post Dallas, PA L Thursday, December 5, 2002 5 Jennifer Quinn, Douglas Bulford, marry in Bahamas Jennifer Ann Quinn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Quinn, Wilkes-Barre Twp., and Douglas John Bulford, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Bulford, Shavertown, were united in marriage on August 10 at Breeze's Resort, Nassau Cable Beach, Bahamas, by Rev. William Miller. Jennifer is the granddaughter of Henry Hillard of Plymouth and the late Bertha Hillard and the late John and Eleanor Quinn. Douglas is the grandson of Donald and Stella Bulford of Dallas and Claire Griffith of Trucksville and the late Parke Griffith. The bride, who was escorted by her father, chose Colleen Wood, sister of the bride, as her maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Dawn Matthews, Amy Secor, Julie Shygelski, Penny Spory, Karen Stavish, and Heather Zawatski. The flower girls were Caitlin Wood and Brigid Wood, nieces of the bride; Caitlyn Metz and Maia Rose Bulford, nieces of the groom. The groom chose both his father and friend Steve Browski, as his best men. Groomsmen were Jon Dolbear, Todd Metz, brother- in-law of the groom; John Quinn, brother of the bride; David Rhoades, John Thompson, and Pete Waichulis. The ring bearers were Bobby Kinney, cousin of the bride; Tyler Bulford, Mark Bul- ford, and Cory Metz, nephews of the groom. An evening cocktail hour and dinner reception was held August 17 at Appletree Terrace in Newberry Estates, Dallas. A bridal shower was hosted by the bridal attendants at the Wilkes-Barre Twp Fire Hall. Mrs. Bulford is a graduate of Coughlin High School. She earned her Associates degree in Accounting from Luzerne County Com- munity College and will obtain her Bachelor of science in Account- ing from Wilkes University in May 2003. She is employed at Com- monwealth Telephone Company, Wilkes-Barre. Mr. Bulford is a graduate of Dallas High School. He is employed by CTSI, Dallas, as a Business Sales Representative and is self- employed at Home Cinema Solutions. Following the honeymoon in the Bahamas, the couple will reside in Luzerne. The tradition of lighting lumi- naries in front of homes and along driveways (votive candles placed in a small bag anchored with sand) goes back two thou- sand years ago, when shepherds marked the way to the manger of the Christ Child with small bonfires. The Shavertown Fire Depart- ment and the youth council members are selling luminary packets (includes 12 votive can- dles, 12 small bags, packet of sand & World Prayer for Peace) on the two weekends before Christmas. Packets cost $6 each, or 2 for $10. Shavertown Fire Department will be selling in front of Thomas’ Family Market, Shaver- town. The Youth Council members will sell after all masses at the following churches: Gate of Heaven Church, Dallas; Our Lady of Victory Church, Harveys Lake; St. Frances X. Cabrini Church; Carverton and St. Therese’s Church, Shavertown. Walsh deployed in West Pacific, Arabian Gulf Marine Corps Cpl. Michael J. Walsh, III, son of Cathy Shook of 228 Terrace Ave., Trucksville is halfway through a six-month de- ployment to the Wastern Pacific and Arabian Gulf while assigned to the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, based in Camp Pendleton, Calif. Walsh is part of the USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Battle Group and USS Belleau Wood Amphibious Ready group.
