Barowsky Prize during convocation cere- monies at Bucknell University. The prize recognizes a student who has demonstrated campus leadership during the junior year. A senior majoring in biochem- istry, Zalatimo is the son of Suhair and Akram Zalatimo, Dallas. He is a graduate of Wyoming Seminary, Kingston. A dean’s list student and member of Alpha Lambda Delta honor society, he is a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. Zalatimo was one of eight stu- dents chosen as Homecoming Host/Hostess. Selected on the basis of campus leadership, the students were nominated by fac- ulty, administrators and student organizations based on their academic and athletic perfor- mance, extracurricular involve- ment and ability to further Bucknell's goals. A steering committee of faculty and admin- istrators narrowed the list and the entire student body voted on the final eight. DHS yearbooks are in The 2002 Dallas yearbooks are now available to those stu- dents who placed orders earlier this year. Alumni may pick up their yearbooks from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily in the high school main office. Receipts are helpful, but not necessary. A limited number of extra copies are available on a first-come, first- served basis. Payment is due in full upon receipt of the book. Area students receive scholarships at Penn State Thirty-seven Back Mountain area students received Penn State Wilkes-Barre scholarships this academic year. The generosity of donors to the 2001-2002 Annual Fund campaign and the sponsors of endowed scholarships enabled Penn State Wilkes-Barre to award over 150 scholarships to first-year and return- ing students. JLollege Misericorida will dedicate ‘Mercy Hall’ College Misericordia will host a special Mass and dedication ceremony on Sunday, December 8 when the newly renovated ad- ministration building will be re- named Mercy Hall. Students, staff and faculty are invited to attend along with alumni, select donors and mem- bers of the Board of Trustees and advisory groups. A special invitation will be extended to ‘honored guests, members of the Religious Sisters of Mercy, for whom the building will be re- named. The day's events will begin with a Mass at 12:30 p.m. in the chapel, followed by a dedi- cation ceremony at 1:30 p.m. in the lobby of Mercy Hall. a As part of the ceremony, the new donor tile wall will be un- veiled on the first floor and guests will be invited to attend a special . dedication of the Founders Room on the second floor. The Founders Room is a last- ing tribute to the founders of College Misericordia, the Sisters of Mercy, and will feature arti- facts, words and images de- scribing their unparalled contri- butions to the success of the in- stitution. The Religious Sisters of Mercy laid the corherstone in 1922 for College Misericordia, Luzerne County's first four-year college. The college was opened to stu- dents on Mercy Day, September 24, 1924.
