Dallas wins labor/management award By ERIN YOUNGMAN Post Staff DALLAS — At the October meeting of the Dallas School Board, it was an- nounced that the Dallas School District was the only district in the state to be nominated for and win the Governor's award for Labor and Management. The award is given to entities, educa- tional or business, where labor and management have a close and positive working relationship. Others nominated this year included companies such as Stroehman’s Bakery, Ame’s and Sny- der’'s. Walter Glogowski of the PA State Education Association, who sits on the board of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Labor Management Council, nominated the district last year for being “a model district.” On September 18, Glogowski, school board member Thomas Russ, Assistant Superintendent Dr. Michael Speziale and Bill Wagner, President of the Dallas Edu- cation Association (teacher's union) trav- eled to Harrisburg to receive the award in a formal presentation followed by a reception. “Id like to congratulate Dallas School Board, and all the administrative staff for the relationship we have had at Dal- las; we've had a great past 10 years,” said Wagner. “Recognition like this from the gover- nor is held in high regard by the admin- istration and school board. It's a great honor to be chosen as one of nine enti- ties selected for their work in labor man- agement,” said Gil Griffiths, Dallas Su- perintendent of Schools. Send The Dallas Post to a friend. It makes a great gift. Call 675-5211 for information.
