The Dallas Post Dallas, PA Thursday, November 28, 2002 THE DALLAS POST Section 2 Dallas, Lake-Lehman boys each face unique challenges By SCOTT VINNACOMBE II Post Correspondent Coach Joe Zelinske has an interesting & and exciting challenge ahead of him. Last year he was head coach of the Berwick Bulldogs boys basketball team. This season though, hell perform the same job at Lake-Lehman High School, over an hour travel time away from his Berwick position. “Its a whole new system,” says Zelinske of the format he’s trying to im- plement. “Any time a new coach comes in the style is changed.” Last season, Zelinske says the team finished somewhere near 7-18 and he'd like very much for those numbers to improve. “My first year on my high school team, we finished with six wins,” said the coach. “But in my second year, the team had no expectations and came out and won 28 games.” Zelinske uses his past as a possible “It'll be a tough season. Jared Sadowski, Chris Coombs, Andy Coombs and Dustin Kapson are all se- niors who have played previously. Oth- er returnees are Josh Marth, Chase Krasniak and Matt Ide. “They're all tough kids who have the ability to get things done,” says to reach their full potential.” In helping players of all ages to reach that potential goal, Zelinske says, “We're building from the ground up and trying to get the same philosophy through all the kids, from grade school to JV to varsity.” What philosophy you may ask? “Play smart, play hard, and play together.” Zelinske expects many of the boys to sometimes from one season to the next. Guy Carpenter scored 24 points, including 8 in the fourth quarter, as CSI International edged Gordon Insurance 46- 42 in the week's closest game. Bren- dan Delaney added 10 points and Ryan Konopki 8 for Csi. Justin Rice had 4 points. Dough Company 29, Dallas Lions 22 Derek Martin was the high scorer for See 5-6 BOYS, pg 17 College Football Recruiting Fair at Wyoming Seminary High school football players in their junior and senior years, as well as their parents and coach- es, are invited to meet college football coaches at the 10th an- nual College Football Recruiting Fair, which is free and open to the public. The Football Fair will be held Tuesday, December 3 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Wyoming Seminary Upper School's Pettebone-Dick- son Student Center on North Maple Avenue, Kingston. It is open to high school football players from all area schools. College coaches from various levels of NCAA divisions will be present to talk to students. Football players from through- out Northeastern Pennsylvania have attended this fair in the past to talk with the coaches and learn more about college and university football pro- grams.
