The Dallas Post Dallas, PA Thursday, November 21, 2002 11 THE DALLAS POST Section 2 By STEVE SEMBRAT Special to The Dallas Post AMBLER — Lake-Lehman won its second field hockey state championship in a big way Sat- urday, shutting out Lancaster Mennonite 3-0 in the PIAA Class 2A field hockey title game at Wis- sahickon High School. Senior center halfback Megan DeCesaris contributed a goal and an assist in the first half, and then had to decide whether laugh or cry after the game end- ed. ; “No words can describe this feeling,” DeCesaris said. “When the game ended I started crying. The next second I was screaming with joy. It's an amazing feeling.” It also created a feeling of ful- fillment and relief for the Black Knights (20-3, District 2 runner- up), who made it to the state fi- nal last year but lost in the championship game, 2-1, to Wyoming Valley Conference rival Wyoming Seminary. “This was our last game,” said senior midfielder Carla Chiampi said. “We wanted to put every- thing we had into it.” The Black Knights did just that and the result was a second state title. Lehman won the 2A crown in 1996, and is the second team from the WVC to win a pair of PIAA field hockey champi- onships. Crestwood also has captured two titles (1988 and 1999). Other teams in the WVC to win it all are Seminary (2001), Lackawan- na Trail (1985) and Delaware Valley (1978).
