The couple was mar- ried October 11, 1952 in a candlelight ceremony at Maple Grove United Methodist Church. The Hoovers have three children. Cheryl Summa of Lehman is employed at Commonwealth Communications, Joann Hoover of Chugiak Alaska is employed at Alaska Steel, and Curtis Hoover of Reading is employed at West Pharmaceutical Services as Art Di- rector. Lester is the son of the late Mable Ide Hoover and Elmer Hoover. Virginia is the daughter of the late Marie Fraley Wolfe and Elmer Wolfe. : A family dinner was given by their children at Peruginos Restaurant in Luzerne. Grandchildren Kristin and Scott Summa attended. Also attending was Dennis Redmond of Chugiak, Alas- ka. : Greetings were received from President George and Laura Bush, Senator Charles Lemmond, and Governor Mark Schweiker. Jane Yocum, a 1972 Dallas High School graduate, died Oct. 28, 2001 after a five-year battle with breast cancer. On Saturday, October 26, from 7-11 p.m., a dance at the Irem Temple Pavillion in Dallas is scheduled, with 100 percent of the net profits going to help fund breast cancer programs and projects. Gravy, which bills itself as “Philly's Finest Funk Band,” will provide the enter- tainment. Food and refresh- ments come with the $25 per person donation. There will be a brief memorial service. The con- cert and refreshments will be paid for out of contributions from area businesses.
