They'll be pla ying a mix of traditional Appalachian dance tunes and Celtic reels an jigs. Caller Bob Nicholson is noted for being able to draw into the dance even the most hesitant of newcomers. He often mstruces from the stage but then calls from among the dancers. Contra dance is similar to square dancing, but is done in ong lines of couples (like the Virginia Reel) rather than in squares. Newcomers are warmly welcomed. Newcomers will discover that the more experienced dancers will dance at the level of their part- ner, adjusting their dancing to match the skill level and style of whoever they may be dancing with at the moment. No previous dance experience is necessary. Lightweight clothing is recom- mended. . The Chicory house is an all-volunteer nonprofit coffeehouse, sponsoring folk music and dance in the Wyoming Valley.
