Gift certificates were awarded at the pizza party held in their honor. Teens helped at the center by visiting with residents, assisting with ther- apeutic activities and socials. Students who need community service hours for school or church projects are welcome to join the fall teen volunteer program. Dr. William Cutter honored for contributions at MIT Dr. William C. Cutter, a former Dallas resident, was awarded a 2002 SHASS Infinite Mile Award for his outstanding contributions to teaching and service to the School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences of MIT (Massa- chusetts Institute of Technology), Cambridge, Massachusetts. Dr. Cutter is a Lecturer in Mu- sic and Director of Choral Activi- ties at MIT, where he is conduc- tor of the MIT Concert Choir and Chamber Choir. He is also a member of the Choral Faculty at the Boston Conservatory, where he conducts the Chorale and the Women’s Chorale, and he has also held academic posts at the Boston University School for the Arts, the University of Lowell, and the Walnut Hill School for the Arts. Conductor of the Boston University Young Artist Chorus of the Tanglewood Institute for five summers, Dr. Cutter was also music director and conductor of the Opera Laboratory Theater Company as well as founder and music director of the vocal en- semble CANTO, which specializes in contemporary choral music. He has also prepared choruses for John Williams and Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops. For seven seasons, he was the music director and conductor of the Brookline Chorus, Brookline, Massachusetts. Dr. Cutter has an undergradu- ate degree in Voice from Mans- field University, where he was named the Most Outstanding Alumni in 1998. He received his Masters and Doctorate Degrees in Composition from Boston Uni- versity and writes choral music for several publishers. His music is widely performed by school and professional ensembles. As a professional tenor, he has sung with vocal ensembles in Boston, has been featured on the MIT fac- ulty recital series, the Cantata Singers, and has taught voice at the New England Conservatory Preparatory School.
