Watchulonis Jr., 70, of Green Pond Road, Shaver- town, died Sept. 3, 2002 at Lehigh Valley Medical Center. Born Sept... '23,..:1931, in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late William Joseph and Josephine (Rogus) Watchulonis. He graduated from Coughlin High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Li- ons Club. Surviving are his wife, the for- mer Ann Marie Bilbow; daugh- ters, Joann Pipan, Forty Fort; Lynn Antonitis, Maryland; and Tracee Kremski, Delaware; son, William J., III, California; six grandchildren; brother, Donald R., Centermoreland; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 8:30 a.m. Friday from the McLaugh- lin Family Funeral Service, 416 Wyoming Ave., Kingston, with a Mass at 9 a.m. at Holy Family Parish, Luzerne. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Bear Creek Township. JEANNE EDWARDS Dallas resident Jeanne N. Edwards, 79, of Claude Street, Dallas, died Fri- day Aug. 30, 2002 at Mercy Center. Born in Forty Fort, she was a daughter of the late Herbert and Elizabeth (Degnan) Naylor. She graduated from West Pittston High School and Wilkes-Barre General Hospital School of Nursing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry H., and brothers, George and Charles. . Surviving are her daughters, Helen Stager and Mary Nafus, both of Dallas, and Elizabeth Williams, Red Lion; son, Henry H., Jr. Canton, .Ga.; nine grandchildren; two great-grand- children; and sisters, Margaret Srna, St. Augustine, Fla., and Doris Donne, Chambersburg. SISTER LUCILLE RYAN Member of Dallas Sisters of Mercy of the Americas Sister Lucille Ryan, a member of the Dallas Regional Commu- nity of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas, died Tuesday Aug. 27, 2002 at Mercy Center. Born May 28, 1921, in Hazle- ton, she was the former Agnes Lucille Ryan, a daughter of the late James J. and Alice (Matthews) Ryan. She was a 1938 graduate of St. Gabriel High School in Hazleton. She entered the Sisters of Mercy in 1939, received the name Sister Mary Rebecca and made her profession of vows in 1942. After graduating from Mercy School of Nursing in Wilkes- Barre, she received a bachelor of science degree in nursing from College Misericordia in 1949 and a master of science degree in nursing education from St. Louis University in 1951. For more than 30 years, she was a nurse and taught nursing at St. Mary Mater Hospital, Scranton, and Mercy Hospital, Wilkes- Barre. She was director of Mercy School of Nursing from 1967 to 1970. : She later received a master of science degree in psychiatric nursing from Adelphi University in Garden City, N.J., and a doc- torate of education from the University of Mississippi, Ox- ford, in 1980. She taught nursing at the University of Illinois at Chicago Circle and the Medical College of Georgia division of the Universi- ty of Georgia, Augusta, where she helped establish a master’s degree program in psychiatric mental health nursing. She also established a private clinical practice in family counseling and was active in community af- fairs in Augusta. After retiring in 1996, she came to the Mercy Center and spent time visiting the ill and aged. She enjoyed reading mys- tery novels. She was preceded in death by her sister, Geraldine. Surviving are her sisters, Regina Strauchon, Minneapolis, and Ruth Morgan, Elmsford, N.Y.; and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Alberola, 74, of Lake Silkworth, died Thursday August 29, 2002 at the Hospice Community Care Unit at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. Born on April 22, 1926, in Nanticoke, he was the son of the late Samuel and Mary (Zabritski) Alberola. Prior to re- tirement, he worked for Ford Motor Co., N.J. for 30 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, and served on the U.S.S. Oklahoma. He was a member of Saint Francis Church, Nanticoke, Wyoming Valley Beagle Club, and the American Legion Post 350, Nan- ticoke. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Tesie Grabowski. Surviving are his sons, Joseph, and John, both of Wilkes-Barre, and David, Glen Lyon; daughters, Ann Marie, with whom he lived, Michelle Myers, Nanticoke, and Barbara Corcoran, N.J.; nine grandchil- dren; sisters, Rose Stawicki, Georgia, and Dolores Baldwin, Harveys Lake; and nieces and nephews.
