On Monday, they were introduced to the therapy dogs from the Wilkes-Barre Training Club. They spent some time in New York City at the family center at Pier 34, established af- ter the tragedy of September 11. They were sent to help the children cope. On Tuesday they learned about the Back Mountain Food Pantry and had an opportunity to donate food and money to help stock the shelves. On Wednesday they met Molly, a represen- tative from the Red Cross who told the chil- dren about the organization's work. On Thurs- day they learned how lifeguards save people. On Friday the D.A.R.E. officer, Frank Ziegler, from Kingston Township, stopped by to chat with the children. Each day an offering was taken to benefit a non-profit agency closely related to the pre- senting groups. For adults, there was an informal parenting video series, “Making Children Mind Without Losing Yours.” No doubt this training helped those parents who picked up their children af- ter a lively morning with their friends!
