Ten Back Mountain residents were recent- ly named to the University of Scranton Dean's List for the Spring 2002 Semester. Students making the list include: Melissa M. Stevans, Trucksville; Matthew D. Zinn, Dallas; Antho- ny J. Lumbis, Sweet Valley; Maureen A. Paley, Shavertown; AmyLynn . A. Pizzano, Dallas; Emily E. Blaum, Dallas; David J. Fine, Sweet Valley; Lauren E. Grant, Dallas; Timothy F. Her- bert, Dallas and Diane M. Jachi- mowicz, Shavertown. A student must have a grade point average of 3.5, or better with a minimum number of credit hours to make the Dean's List. The list includes students from the College of Arts and Sci- ences, the Kania School of Man- agement, the Panuska College of Professional Studies and Dexter Hanley College. Zatorski named to Middlebury dean’s list Devin B. Zatorski, son of Richard Zatorski and The Late Kathleen Bradley of Shavertown, was named to the dean's List during the 2002 spring term at Middlebury College. The Dean's List is the second highest recog- nition for academic achievement at the liberal arts institution in Vermont. To be selected for the Dean’s List, students must carry a full course load of four or more classes during the semester, achieve a grade point average of 3.3 or higher and earn no grade lower than a “B-.” Murphy named to Syracuse dean’s list Paul Murphy, a senior bio- engineering major at Syracuse University, has been named to the Spring 2002 Dean’s List. To qualify for the Dean’s List, students must complete a mini- mum of 12 credit hours and earn at least a 3.4 grade point average (on a 4.0) during the se- mester. Murphy lives in Dallas. Schweitzer to receive Master’s Degree from Ithaca College Emily Schweitzer, of Dallas will receive a master of science degree in physical therapy from the Division of Graduate Studies at Ithaca College, following com- pletion of summer fieldwork. She previously earned her bach- elor's degree in clinical science from Ithaca College. Schweitzer is a graduate of Dallas Senior High School. Northeastern names two to dean’s list Jessica Elston, of Sweet Val- ley, and Kathleen Britt, of Har- veys Lake, have been named to the Northeastern University Spring 2002 Dean's List. Elston is majoring in Account- ing and Britt is majoring in Business Administration. To achieve this distinction, students must carry a full pro- gram, have a quality point aver- age of 3.25 or greater out of a possible 4.0 and carry no grade lower than a C. Participants used state-of-the-art equipment and instrumentation in the King's laboratories to solve four “crimes.” Among the techniques students learned were fingerprint analysis, blood testing/typing, and DNA analy- sis of hair, fibers, seeds and beetles. Participants also learned forensic anthropology techniques by studying human bones, collected evidence from an outdoor “crime scene,” and met with a scientist from the Wyoming State Police Crime Lab. Dr. Susan Jones-Held, associate professor of biology; Mary Sanders, assistant laboratory professor in biology; and Valerie Musto, laboratory manager, conducted the workshop. This yearly event allows seventh and eighth grade students who are newly attending the Lake- Lehman MLEB, to try lockers, locate rooms, and become famil- iar with the layout of the school. Information pertinent to the Open House will be mailed to all students the first week of Au- gust. Students must bring this information on the day they choose to visit the school. Levinson named to Bates College Dean’s List Jeffrey B. Levinson of Dallas, was named to the Dean’s List at Bates College as a result of his scholastic standing during the sec- ond semester of the 2001-02 academic year. To qualify for the dean's list at Bates, a student must maintain a better than “B+” average for the semester, for a minimum quality point ratio of 3.6 Levinson, a sophomore psychology major, is the son of Howard and Susan Levinson. He was a member of the Representative As- sembly, the student government at Bates. Levinson is a 2000 gradu- ate of Dallas High School.
