Indians 10, A's 3 The Indians utilized a seven- run fifth inning to break open the game, and defeat the As. Dave Fetchko, Brandon Re- ichart and Andrew McCabe each had two hits for the winners, in- cluding one double apiece for Fetchko and Reichart. Fetchko also tossed a complete game, striking out eight. For the A's, Joe Hayes and Pat Healy each had two hits. Hayes and Zach Aciukewicz combined to strike out seven. Yankees 17, Tigers 0 | Josh Shaver and Tom Mc- Grath combined to hurl a per- ‘fect game, striking out four as the Yankees blanked the Tigers. Scott Skammer led the Yankees with four hits, including two doubles. Henry Messinger and Joe Collini each had three hits, including a Messinger triple, and Michael McHutchinson added two doubles for the Yan- kees. Dodgers 12, Pirates 4 Tommy Oswalt and Mike Ses- son combined to fan 10 to lead the Dodgers past the Pirates. Rockies 2 David Harding struck out nine in four shutout innings, and Dylan Seeley struck out two in three innings of relief as the Back Mountain Cardinals rolled past the Back Mountain Rock- ies. Seeley had a double and a single to lead the Cardinals, and Stephen Cornia added two sin- gles. Jon Janerich had three singles and Brian Goeringer col- lected a double, and Adam King fanned three batters in a losing cause. Back Mt. Major League SOFTBALL Laura Kurello’s RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning was enough to push the Cardi- nals past the Phillies 3-2 in Back Mountain Softball Major League action. Kylie Kustrin made an excellent catch in the top of the ninth to keep the game tied, setting the stage for Kurello's heroics in the bottom half of the inning. Ellen Morgan fanned 14 Phillies in the win, while Ally Evans struck out 21 Cardinals in a losing effort. Evans doubled for the Phillies. White Sox 21, Bob Horlacher 19 Stephanie Ashley had four hits and Erica Morgan fanned three as the White Sox slid past Bob Horlacher in an offensive marathon. Megan McDonald and Sara Stutski combined to strike out 11 for Horlacher in the losing effort, while Sara Szczucki had four hits Kelly Evans and Ashley Ely each had three. Marissa Patton, Megan McDonald, April Dulsky, Grace Hubbel and Nora Sidorik each added two hits in the losing ef- fort. White Sox 24, Phillies 9 ~ Stephanie Ashley had a dou- ble and two singles to propel the White Sox past the Phillies. Penn State Summer Youth Programs Penn State Wilkes-Barre's Summer Youth Program offers children in grades Kindergarten through eighth grades an ac- tion-packed adventure this sum- mer. The day camps have an overall focus on science and technology, with new camps this year adding an option of art and literature. Sports camps also are available including soccer (grades K-12), basketball and volleyball (grades 8-12). The camps provide children a hands-on opportunity to explore the world in a safe environment with experienced instructors. Topics include robotics, includ- ing LEGO MINDSTORMS’, rock- etry, wildlife, computers, art, acting and experiments related to the Harry Potter’ novels, jour- nalism, summer olympics and more. Students may purchase lunch daily in the cafeteria or may bring lunch from home. While children attend camps, parents/guardians are welcome to use the campus library or the exercise/weight room in the Athletic Building. Harveys Lake Victory Run June 22 The Harvey's Lake Victory Run 2002 will be at 8:30 a.m. on Sat- urday, June 22 at Harveys Lake. Kiwanis softball game set for June 24 The 23rd Annual Dallas Kiwanis Girls High School All-Star Soft- ball Game will be played at 5:30 Back Mountain Little League Field, p.m. on Monday, June 24 at the Church Street, Dallas. P. I. A. A. Rules and Officials will be used. To assure the partici- pation of each girl chosen, nine innings will be played and the run rule will be suspended. Each player will wear her own te 's uniform. Additional equipment will be provided.
