The dance is held at the St. Therese’s Church, Pioneer Ave. at Davis St. in Shavertown. Music will be by Bruce Young and friends. In recognition of Mother's Day (the day after the dance), dancers who bring their moms to the dance will obtain free admission for their special quest. The dancing is mod- erately aerobic, but all figures can be accomplished with a walking step. No partner or previous experi- ence is necessary, and all dances are taught and called. Bruce Young, from State College, has been singing and playing music professionally for over 25 years in a wide range of venues, performing with voice, fiddle, guitar, bass, banjo and mandolin. Bruce has developed school programs and workshops emphasizing the early American heritage, with fiddle tunes, maritime songs, and English country, square and contra dance tunes. He is a Suzuki instructor and maintains a violin and fiddle teaching studio, and does some work with special needs chil- dren. The Chicory house is an all-volunteer non-profit coffeehouse, sponsoring folk music and dance in the Wyoming Valley. Admission to the dance is $6 for adults and $15 for families. Dancers are asked to wear soft-soled shoes and may bring a snack to share at intermis- sion. Further information is available at 333-4007.
