Ambrose, 88, of Har- veys Lake, died Monday April 29, at Meadows Nursing Center, Dal- las. Born in Mount Carmel, he was a son of the late Bernard and He- len (Gwaizdoska) Ambrose. He graduated from Mount Carmel High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Francis L. “Red” and Frank, and sisters, Edna Stogoski and Helene Golaski Surviving are his sisters, Jeanne Shollenberger and Eleanor, both of Schuylkill Haven, and nieces and nephews. JOAN GARBUSH Former Shavertown resident Joan Kuhl Garbush, 62, of Fort Myers, Fla., formerly of Shaver- town, died Wednesday April 24, in Fort Myers. Born July 16, 1939, in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Mary Dugan Kuhl and was a graduate of G.A.R. High School. She was a former member of St. Nicholas Parish, Wilkes-Barre. She was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Dougert. Gut- stein, 69, of Kingston, and for- merly of North Pioneer Avenue, Shavertown, died suddenly on Friday morning April 26, 2002 at thé Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. His life consisted of de- votion and love to his family and all he came in contact with. Born in Brooklyn, New York, November 26, 1932, he was a son of the late Sam and Ida (Rosen) Gutstein. He came to the Wyoming Valley in 1941 and had attended Exeter sehools un- tii 1947 when he moved to Wilkes-Barre. He - graduated from E.L. Myers High School in 1950 and attended Wilkes Uni- versity. He owned and operated the family business, the Steingut Dress Company, Dupont. Before retirement, he was active in community affairs. He served on the board of the Pennsylvania Dress Manufactur- ers Association and was a past president of the Pittston Rotary, was president of the Wyoming Seminary Lower School Fathers Club and was a member of the Upper School Parents Council. In addition he was a social member of the Newberry Club, a member of the Wyoming Valley Swim and Tennis Club, and a member of the Fox Hill Country Club. He was a member of B'Nai Brith Temple, Kingston. He re- mained a current member of Wyoming Lodge No. 468, the Scranton Consistory and the Irem Temple. He is survived by his beloved family: wife of 40 years, the for- mer Dolores Masteller, of Forty Fort; son, Guyler, daughter-in- law, Heidi and grandson, Jack, of Lansing, Mich.; brothers, Stanley, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Dr. Leo, San Jose, Calif.; aunt, Mrs. Helen Karp, Brooklyn, N.Y.; and numerous cousins. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. GEORGE NICHOLS Harveys Lake resident George W. Nichols Sr., 59, of Harveys Lake, died Monday April 29, 2002 at home.
