Dougherty named to All-PAC Academic Team Thomas Dougherty, son of Thomas and Josephine Dougherty, Shavertown, has been named to the All-PAC Aca- demic Team for the fall 2001 se- mester. The honor is given to student athletes competing in cross- country, field hockey, soccer, tennis and volley ball who earn a GPA of 3.2 or higher. Thomas Dougherty Scholarship program for agriculture students Students pursuing careers in agriculture can apply for a scholar- ship from the Careers in Agriculture scholarship program, jointly sponsored by Agriliance, Land O'Lakes Farmland Feed and Croplan Genetics. High school seniors who will enroll in a two-or four-year agronomy or livestock curriculum in the fall of 2002 are eligible to apply. Fifty $1,000 scholarships will be awarded. This program, headed by PTA Chairwomen Rose Payne, Cindy Manzoni and Lynn Konicki, gave students the opportu- nity to purchase books to help foster their live of reading, and help the school library grow at the same time. Lake-Lehman sets kindergarten registration Robert Kunkle and Dave McLaughlin-Smith, Elementary Principals for the Lake-Lehman School District, announced re- cently Kindergarten Registra- tion and screening for eligible kindergarten students on March 4, 5 and 6. Lake-Lehman School District policy states a child must be 5 years of age on or before September 1, 2002 in order to register for kinder- garten for the 2002-2003 school year. Kindergarten in the Lake- Lehman School District is an all-day program. Parents are asked to bring all necessary immunization records to school at the time of registration. No child will be ad- mitted in the Lake-Lehman School District until proof of immunization is presented to the school nurse. Parents are required to furnish proof of the child's age before entrance to kindergarten. Please bring the child's birth certificate along with his/her social security number. Tucker, a ju- nior at Johns Hopkins Universi- ty, Baltimore, MD spent his win- ter break studying in Cuba. He was chosen to accompany 16 other students and several advisors on the trip that lasted 16 days. While in Havana he studied Cuban politics and inter- national relations at the Univer- sity of Havana. Tucker is a political science and philosophy major at Johns Hopkins and an intern for Con- gressman Robert Ehrlich in Washington D.C. for the current semester and a wide receiver on the school’s football team.
