Hislop, 67, of Maple Street, Trucksville sec- tion of Kingston Township, died Tuesday Jan. 1, 2002 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in Kingston, he was a son of the late Robert K. and Louise (Williams) Hislop. He was a graduate of Wyoming Seminary and attended Penn State University. He was a field engineer for Commonwealth Telephone Co., Dallas, for 42 years, before retiring. He served with the U.S. Army. He was a member of George M. Dallas Lodge 531 F & AM, Caldwell Consistory, Bloomsburg, Irem Temple, Wilkes-Barre, Daddow Isaacs American Legion Post 672, Dallas, Riverview Rod and Gun Club, Forkston, founding member of the Dallas Booster Club and Back Mountain Wrestling Club, and life mem- ber of the Independent Pioneer Telephone Association. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert C. Surviving are his wife of 44 years, the former Margrit Niev- ergelt; son, Charles R., Trucksville; daughter, Sandra Rostkowski, Kingston; three grandchildren; brothers, Con- rad “Murph,” Harveys Lake; Harold, and Boise, Idaho; and sister, Sandra Peralta, Alto, N.M. Hale, 84, a resi- dent at Fernwood Manor, Sweet Valley, Ross Township, formerly of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Dallas, died Saturday Dec. 22, 2001 She was formerly a resident of The Meadows, Dallas. Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late John Llewellyn and Rachel Ann (Mor- gan) Williams. She was a gradu- ate of Meade Street School, GAR Memorial High School, both of Wilkes-Barre, and the Wyoming Seminary Dean School of Busi- ness, Kingston. She was secre- tary to the bursar of Brooklyn College, Brooklyn, N.Y., and lat- er was a secretary with the Luzerne County Treasurer's Of- fice, Wilkes-Barre. She also worked for the Small Business Administration, Wilkes-Barre, Stull Brothers, Kingston, and, before retiring, for American As- phalt Paving Co., Shavertown, Kingston Township. She was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Dallas, and former member of the First Welsh Pres- byterian Church, Wilkes-Barre. While a resident of The Mead- ows, she was active in The Meadows Auxiliary. She was also preceded in death by her brother, John Morgan Williams; and sisters, Mary Williams, Bronwen Davis and Eleanor Garelle. Born in Old Forge, she was the daughter of the late William and Clara (Crues) Bowen. She was a graduate of Old Forge High School and the Wilkes- Barre General Hospital School of Nursing. She was a medical/surgical supervisor at General and Nesbitt hospitals, | until retiring in 1964 and was the first school nurse in the Dallas Township schools. She was a member of Shavertown United Methodist Church, Dal- las, Dallas Chapter 396 Order of the Eastern Star, and the Alum- ni Association of General Hospi- tal. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester. Surviving are her daughter, Clare A. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred; and twin grandchildren, Jeffrey John and Jill Brady.
